Today I removed a window installation from The Bar Method - Locust Point, for the last time. It was been a fabulous three years to work on this beautiful canvas, and is a DELIGHT of a client. Meeting Ally and painting her business, and eventually her home, has had a major impact on Okay Everything.

Transitions for businesses are normal, though this loss is felt both by me and the community. I am so excited to keep an eye on Ally because you know she’s up to something else wonderful….

This is a love letter to :

When construction started on the first floor of the building my studio is in… I was so curious. I watched them tear up the concrete floor, install a bar, and pieces of a sick mural (kudos !) and then, voila, a new brewery was born.

If you know me, you know I’m all about local everything, and to share a building with such a kind, warm and convenient business quickly was a major, major joy for me as an individual and business owner.

In their first year, asked me to start hosting paint and sips. We worked hard to market, and repeatedly sold them out. I made many friends with painters who came again and again.

In winter 2024, Mike’s now wife introduced me to .gabby.oakes during a holiday market in the taproom - I hired her essentially on the spot, and it was an incredible leveling up to have her on the team.

I’ve had birthday parties, my breakup parties, and countless happy hours in this brewery. Every time I walk by, I’m saying hey to whoever is working.

Wico Street Beer Co, what a delight it has been to have you as a neighbor!! Im so glad to have had the chance to honor you and the other breweries with my newest mural. You will be so, so, so missed. ❤️‍🩹

This mural is one day away from being finished, and there have been so many people, experiences, joys, and hours spent with this brick wall.

It’s an honor to paint the building that has been my studio home for the last four years, for the second time (I painted the branded entrance a few years ago) and to do it in honor and partnership with the breweries that are part of my home, in so many senses.

🌺 Spring is springing!

March is always a busy month for OKE, as holiday and winter windows get switched out for flowers and bugs! This season has been incredible with lots of exceptional support from gabby n oakes and Nancie Brown-Crisp! We were able to complete seven spring windows while working on a huge mural in Pigtown.

A year ago I was flown out to create this mural for - an absolute delight to paint and experience a city I now love so much. We brought in to adjust their design from Fed Hill location and I had the joy of installing.

A mural does so much for a place and a community - even when the community is only part human!

reached out to me when they were in the design phase of their build out. They were balancing so many contractors as they built their franchise from the ground up. They were hype, motivated, and anxious to open.

We worked quickly to secure the budget, build a color palette (with expertise and guidance from who did gorgeous design work throughout) and create a design that was simple, clear, not too distracting or stimulating for the pups, but fun and lively enough for owners to enjoy as they watch their fur babies on the live cams.

We wanted fun and playful, without being too explicit about dogs.
We wanted Baltimore, but not too kitsch.
We wanted within budget, but taking up as much space on the wall as possible.

And this mural was born! It took about a week to go up, as I was working after daytime contractors spent business hours installing the floor. I love working evenings, honestly, and feel this place became a little week long sanctuary for me.

And now it’s a daily place of live fun and joy for my favorite animals! Thanks for having me!

A few photos from that I painted in April. This project was so fun to design and work closely with (and incubating baby) from start to finish. We worked with their budget, palette, and daytime contractors. I was often working from 4pm until 1am as other workers were in the space working on the floor during the day.

This was my first mural with a bunch of Baltimore icons, and symbols of pups along the way. The concept was “a dog walk through Baltimore” and I dare say I love it.

Looking forward to get final pictures as the space is now open and fully operating! I can’t wait for their first anniversary coming up this spring.

Baltimore got around a foot of snow last week and the city essentially shut down. It took me three days before I decided to dig out my car, and in the meantime I was reminded why I love having a studio in walking distance! The lull was the perfect opportunity to try out a new style just for myself - which I lovingly call unicorn vomit.
