England 2025 - The Cotswolds & Bath - Part II

The classic English breakfast, a perfect balance of flavor and nutrition for a long day of work or adventuring. Heading out to The Cotswolds after London and Bath, we entered another land entirely. Georgian walls gave way to hedgerows of Blackberry bushes and fields of sheep. This was the place that inspired Tolkien’s sense of The Shire and other elements of his Middle Earth.

The Doors of Durin are known evolved from the ancient doors of St. Andrew’s in Stow-in-the-Wold, but much of the abundance of The Cotswolds and the natural pace of the countryside can also be seen in his depiction of the land of the Hobbits. I too never wanted to leave this place of good food, countryside walks, and lazy afternoons filled with local cider.

Despite more crowds of tourists (not depicted here), we found quiet moments of calm and peace that only the English countryside can provide. My morning runs and hikes were particularly eye opening as ancient trails crisscross this land and offer perfect morning adventures for those willing to venture out on their own two feet. I rarely saw others on these countryside rambles and they allowed me to appreciate the presence of life in this otherworldly place not always allowed when packing days filled with sightseeing.

But it was not nearly enough time and when we headed back to Bath for one more night before heading home, we all felt the pangs of departing a place we had all fallen in love with. We did leave grateful with the whole of our journey and left feeling a deep sense of contentment for days well spent, meals enjoyed, and an adventures had. Till next time, England, till next time. 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿

England 2025 - London & Bath - Part I

It’s incredibly hard to distill our adventures to just 20 pictures. They capture just a small slice of the life, the sounds, the smells, the culture of the British people. A proud people, a colonial people, but a warm and cultured people all the same.

Our journey was “perfectly imperfect” as Erin said this evening reminiscing. These pictures don’t capture the mounds of tourists, the toddler meltdowns, the sore feet, or weary eyes. But they do capture the beauty in travelling outside your comfort zone your family a bigger sense of the world and for me that’s what it’s about.

What a joy it was to breath the London air once again, to walk the tunnel into Arsenal Stadium, and sip cider at a true English pub. Go travel the world, friends. The journey is always priceless. (To be cont.)
