You’ve all heard this quote before: “you are who you surround yourself with.”

The reason it's such a famous quote is because it's true. But, not only are you who you surround yourself with, you will also become who those people want you to become.

For example, if your friend group is jealous and wants you to stay on their level, you will likely never move forward in your career or passion. Their negative influence will pull you back every time you try to take a step forward.

The same idea holds true with friends who want the best for you. Every time you fall short or fail, they will be there to encourage you to continue fighting. They will push you to become your best self.

That’s why it’s so important to build a group of friends that is genuine and truly wants the best for you.

Many entrepreneurs start by thinking of a great idea or product, and then trying to find customers. While this approach may work occasionally if you have a great product, it's not the best way to get started.

A much more efficient and profitable method is the following: Look for a need and fill it, look for a problem and solve it, look for customers and sell them a solution.

This might seem like common sense, but you would be surprised how easy it is to get caught up in your own idea and forget that it's not about you, it's about the customer.

If you are having trouble getting sales, landing clients, or growing your business, the answer is probably not to dump more money into the idea. Instead, take a step back and ask your customers what they want.

Are you meeting their needs? Are you offering something they want or are you just trying to sell something you are passionate about?

In the end there is nothing wrong with doing what you love or following something you are passionate about, just remember that the more you can align your passion with your customers needs, the faster your business will grow!

Have you ever found yourself stuck in the planning phase, constantly talking about your goals without actually taking any steps towards achieving them?

Unfortunately this is quite common, whether you are trying to start a business, make a move in your career, or start the next chapter of life, it can be hard to take that first step.

It’s important to remember that you can move forward without having everything figured out. It's perfectly ok to learn/grow along the way.

For example, Amazon started off selling books online, it was only after years of business that they began to grow into what we recognize today.

So keep in mind that you don’t need to be perfect, you just need to start!

Do you find yourself constantly worrying about what you don't have, and feeling like there's never enough to go around? If so, you may be stuck in a scarcity mindset.

This idea that “there's not enough to go around” can cause extreme stress and short term thinking as you are constantly worried that you don’t have enough.

Unfortunately, this idea does not only come into play when you are low on time or money. This idea can actually do even more damage to those who actually do have enough but still feel panicked. These people are then unable to think logically and make the best use of their resources.

Fortunately, it’s possible to shift your thinking towards an abundance mindset by continually showing gratitude, thinking big picture, and looking for collaboration over competition.

This shift won't happen overnight. But with time and effort, you can train your brain to see the world in a more positive light, and unlock your full potential for success, happiness, and fulfillment.

Delayed gratification means that you put in the work today, so that you can succeed tomorrow.

Don’t be afraid to work long hours and suffer for your goals. Understand that it’s worth it as you are building towards something of your true value.

This idea is incredibly valuable for more than just business. If you can master delayed gratification in other aspects of your life, there is no limit to what you can accomplish.

Many people attend “Networking Events” for a quick connection or lead. They are looking to make a sale before looking to get to know the person they are dealing with.

Like this quote points out, you can get so much more out of networking if you focus on enrichment and adding value to those around you.

Get to know the people behind the business, the deals and partnerships will come later.

There are two types of people in this world, those who run away from a challenge, and those who run towards one.

These truths about business show the responsibility, dedication, and risk needed to build a business of your own.

When you think about the great business leaders of today, what comes to mind?

Often we see their brilliance, their great ideas, or their leadership skills.

But we rarely hear about how often they failed and how many years they spent struggling to get to where they are now.

It’s important to keep this in mind as you are working to build your own business. Remember that you will run into trouble, things will fall apart, and you will fail over and over again…

You may think you are alone in these struggles, but you need to remember that every great entrepreneur has gone through the same struggles.

Stay focused and work through the pain, success is waiting just around the corner!

As I was writing this list, I sadly realized that I only have a few of these “desired” traits.

At first that bummed me out a bit, but then I realized that this was really an opportunity to focus on building the traits I lacked.

So as you read through this list, think about what you're already great at, and then think about which traits you could improve on.

I am sure you all have heard this quote before, but I came across it today and realized again how incredibly true it is.

Every entrepreneur has failed. I don’t care whether you are worth millions, own three companies, or just retired, you have 100% made mistakes to get where you are.

On top of that, those mistakes are part of the reason you reached the level of success you did.

I am saying all this not to point out anyones mistakes, but to encourage those currently having difficulties in business or in life.

You need to understand that without those tough moments, you can never learn the lessons that will take you to the top.

Stay strong and push through the pain, your reward is waiting!
