FROM THE FUSION BOARD OF DIRECTORS
We are reaching out today to share an important decision that we have made as Fusion’s Board of Directors regarding the future of our fiscal sponsorship program. After deep consideration and with great sadness, the Board has reached a consensus to sunset the fiscal sponsorship program. This decision was not made lightly, but rather as a proactive step to ensure the long-term sustainability of the important work of our fiscally sponsored partners. We are deeply grateful to all of you who supported Fusion and our partners’ work and are open to connect if you have any questions, concerns, or want to help as we move through this process.
Our path forward involves deep conversations with our fiscally sponsored partners and we will be implementing a phased approach to ensure each program is able to do one of the following:
- Secure a new fiscal sponsor;
- Establish independent 501(c)(3) status, if desired; or
- Close out time-based or one-time projects with a structured plan.
Our priority is to ensure that our partners’ work continues uninterrupted and that their financial and programmatic transition is as seamless as possible.
It has been our honor to serve as one of Baltimore’s fiscal sponsors for the past 22 years. We know we are entering times when social justice programs are needed now more than ever and we know that each of us individually will continue the work in new ways moving forward.
