Important note for local Flute clients who will be performing at NFA:

If you have any concerns about your instrument(s) functioning properly, get on my schedule now. (I meant ...ahem... NOW!) Publicly, my calendar is full into September, but I have some super secret times set aside for the proverbial. You will need to email, text, or call. These times are first come first serve and very limited. Snooze, ya lose conditions will be enforced remorselessly.

2027 Overhaul Schedule Update

I just counted some noses and the JWS 2027 overhaul schedule is likely full. I have some people on the list who grabbed a spot just in case but were not in a "needs an overhaul NOW" situation. Unless something self-destructs on their instruments, those people may be pushed to 2028.

I will begin laying out my 2027 overhaul calendar sometime in the coming months and those on the list will have first choice/first refusal of my availability.

Overhauled at Jeff’s Woodwind Shop April/May 2026

05/04/2026

Just got the invoice for a major pad order (been way too long) so i now have fresh eye popping pricing in my head. Using conventional mark-up for retail pricing, larger saxophone pads (i.e. lower tenor sax pads) should be priced at $20+ just for the pad. If your shop charges you less than $15 consider it a gift. If your shop rolls their pads cost into the job price (like me) then prepare for a price increase once i find my slide rule.

Saxophone players: please avoid flimsy thinly profiled plastic cases like this (manufacturer dosn’t matter). They are making me a lot of money, and not because i sell them. People are wanting thinner and thinner profiles for some reason and the case makers are obliging, but the degree of protection is CRAP! If you want or have one of these for the sleek form factor, just go for an old gig bag. At least with those you won’t be fooled into thinking your horn is protected.

To clarify: if you use one of these cases, your horn WILL get damaged if you don’t treat it like there is no case. Was i the only saxophone player traumatized by St.Elmo’s Fire and the naked saxophone thrown over a shoulder? These cases offer similar protection.
