This has been a year of public speaking for me, and I so enjoyed leaving this amazing group of leaders with personalized plans to develop and actualize their personal brands -- especially when they need to break out of their comfort zones to do so. Many thanks for the invitation!

Yesterday I celebrated 5 years of Hudgins Williams Associates and 60 trips around the sun! Neither of which actually happened yesterday, so the point for all of you is twofold -- first, celebrate what you can, when you can, and as often as you can, and two, I am grateful to all of you for your personal and professional support!

Happy New Year! I hope yours is off to a wonderful start.

I've heard so much about Brene Brown in the public media and from clients, so I just began reading her book on vulnerability, Daring Greatly. While I'm not quite convinced of the thesis yet (I just finished chapter 2) I did accomplish something I feel pretty vulnerable about -- completing and sharing a project I have been working on since last summer, something I felt totally unqualified in many ways to do. And while I still feel really anxious, the feedback I received already feels ah-may-zing!

So this topic may be something for you to consider as you start 2022. Feel free to share in the comments the things that you've already accomplished and should (WILL!) celebrate this year!

Yesterday’s group coaching session focused on wellness and self care. We discussed why it matters (“put your own oxygen mask on first before helping others”) the five elements of wellness: Emotional/Spiritual, Physical, Social, Diet/Nutrition and Sleep/Rest. After identifying strengths and areas of needed focus, we brainstormed ways to improve. I’ll share some in the comments and encourage you to do so as well. Don’t forget to identify and break down barriers, and that baby steps still propel you forward!

Bringing all our families in Queens together for major holidays, especially Thanksgiving, is one of my favorite childhood memories. While I totally understand the ambivalence of many concerning a holiday that was built on the exploitation of indigenous peoples, I still concurrently value this day set aside to give thanks for all God’s blessings, and to celebrate those blessings with loved ones. So to those who celebrate, I wish you a blessed, happy and safe Thanksgiving!
