Now, let’s talk about something a little heavier — CONCRETE!

At L&J Processing Facility Corp. (LJPFC), concrete from construction and demolition projects has its own journey, and there’s a lot more to it than just breaking up old buildings.

Here’s what happens:

1️⃣ SORTING & RECOVERY
When concrete arrives at our facility, our team separates it from wood, metal and other debris, recovering material that can be recycled.

2️⃣ TRANSPORTATION
Once separated, the concrete is prepared and transported to specialized crushing facilities equipped to handle the next stage of processing.

3️⃣ CRUSHING & PROCESSING
At these facilities, concrete is crushed, screened and sized into what the industry calls Recycled Concrete Aggregate (RCA).

4️⃣ A NEW PURPOSE
That old concrete can find its way back into our communities as:

🛣️ Road base — Supporting roads, parking lots and construction projects.

💧 Drainage aggregate — Used in drainage systems and site development.

🏗️ Construction materials — Providing aggregate for approved construction applications.

🌳 Landscaping & erosion control — Supporting pathways, embankments and other outdoor projects.

Everybody wants to talk about recycling like it's a feeling. Around here it's arithmetic.
Part of being RCI certified is that our scales have to be certified, every load in gets weighed, every sorted container out gets weighed, and the numbers go up to RCI every month. If the two ends don't match, somebody asks why.
I thought our recordkeeping was really good before we started. Turns out "really good" and "verified" are two different zip codes.
Funny thing — doing it the RCI way improved how we do business.
For us, If it didn't hit the scale, it didn't happen.

Our Scales Are Certified. Your Numbers Are Protected.

As COO of L&J Processing Facility in Baltimore, I can tell you that one of the most important things we do bi-annually doesn’t involve heavy machinery, sorting lines, or processing tonnage. It involves making sure our scales are certified and accurate — and we just completed that process through Apple Valley Scale Company.

Baltimore is Building and LJPFC is processing their demolition and excavation material for reuse on Construction projects. Instead of this material disappearing into landfills, LJPFC processes the material so it can be reused. if you are doing demolition and excavation work, we want your dirt.
