Each year we do a company outing, usually on a Friday in August. This year, that day was this past Friday. The outing always involves good food (breakfast and lunch), snacks and tasty beverages. What we do on the outing is put up to staff vote. This year the staff voted to repeat last year’s outing as that was the best company outing ever. I was reluctant, because how can you recreate that same thing? What made it different was all the staff got to do things together rather than breaking up in small groups only to reunite at lunch.
Well, we did it again with another game day with The Unplugged Arcade. He also hosts tax season games for us on Teams every other Wednesday night. We switched out our lunch plans this year and ate at Timber in their private dining room. And we followed up with more games and candy! It was so much fun and we definitely recommend the The Unplugged Arcade! And as usual, our space at Rize CoWorking Space was awesome, with private bathrooms and plenty of room!

Our office is closed tomorrow, August 21st for our annual company outing full of fun, food, drinks, candy and games. We will be back on Monday!

Beginning July 1, 2026, the optional standard mileage rates for the use of a car, van, pickup, or panel truck will be:

76 cents per mile driven for business use, up from 72.5 cents.
23.5 cents per mile driven for medical purposes, up from 20.5 cents.
23.5 cents per mile driven for moving purposes by eligible active-duty members of the Armed Forces and certain members of the intelligence community, up from 20.5 cents.
14 cents per mile driven for charitable miles (unchanged).
The revised rates apply to eligible transportation expenses paid or incurred on or after July 1, 2026. The rates originally announced for 2026 continue to apply to expenses paid or incurred from January 1 through June 30, 2026.

Yesterday we discovered that our company's outgoing voicemail somehow got swapped with a canvas, tent and marine wrap company. So if you called expecting tax advice and instead learned about waterproof boat covers, just know that we were also surprised. We are back to being CPAs now, mostly.

Our move has hit a few complications with Spectrum putting in an incorrect piece of equipment, so our phones are still not working well and we are piecing together internet access through hot spots and working remotely while awaiting a fix. We hope to be back up and running fully at some point tomorrow. As CPAs, not canvas and marine wrap specialists. That is a great field, but if you have met us you know we don't have that kind of coordination.

Thanks for bearing with us. We hope to have this 'wrapped up' and be back to fully functioning by the end of the week.

Moving day!!!

1040 tax season is over and we are taking on our next deadline (while still working) - our office move.

We are very excited about our new space at 396 Griffin Road, Suite 102. It will be newly built out and modern, without the extra space we don’t need now since we are paperless, but still with plenty of room to grow staff and clients.

Please bear with us as we move and have the inevitable hiccups in technology/phones/internet. We are doing all that we can to prevent them. And please visit us at our new space in May. We are excited to be there soon! We will keep you posted on potential dates of inaccessibility, but likely that will include April 29th and 30th. Until then, we are still at 12 Stillwater.
