🇺🇸 NEVER FORGET | TUNNEL TO TOWERS 5K 🇺🇸

Today, seven members of your Bangor Professional Firefighters IAFF Local 772 joined by several of our family members, traveled to Portland for the 2026 Tunnel to Towers 5K Run & Walk — and we were proud to have one of the largest department representations at today’s event.

But today wasn’t about the number of people we brought or the steps we made.

It was about who we walked for.

The Tunnel to Towers 5K honors the legacy of FDNY Firefighter Stephen Siller, who on September 11, 2001, strapped on his gear and ran through the Brooklyn Battery Tunnel toward the World Trade Center, where he ultimately gave his life while helping others. The event continues that legacy by honoring those lost on 9/11 while supporting our nation’s fallen and catastrophically injured first responders, military members, and their families.

This year carries even greater significance as we approach the 25th anniversary of September 11th

A staunch reminder that Never Forget is more than something we say. It is something we have a responsibility to teach to the generations who weren’t yet here to remember it themselves.

That made having our families — and especially our kids — alongside us today pretty special.

They got to see firsthand the brotherhood and sisterhood of the fire service, the sacrifices made by those who came before us, and why we continue to show up for one another.

We couldn’t be prouder of the Bangor membership and our families for representing our Local today.

We remember. We honor. We walk together. 🇺🇸

Our Adam MacDonald Memorial MDA Open presented by Bangor Chimney had clear skies, fast greens, and some golfers of questionable talent (and a few ringers, too) at Pine Hill Golf Course last Saturday.

We're just 12 hours from tee off at Pine Hill Golf Course for our Adam MacDonald Memorial MDA Open Presented by Bangor Chimney!

Same day registration is available, so join us in Orrington tomorrow as we fight neuromuscular disease with the Muscular Dystrophy Association and the International Association of Fire Fighters!

Being a great golfer isn't required... you don't even need to be good! As long as you can come out and have a good time, that's all that matters.

🚒✈️ JOINT TRAINING | AIRCRAFT EXTRICATION

Today, members of your Bangor Professional Firefighters IAFF Local 772 had the opportunity to train alongside firefighters from the Maine ANG Fire Department in a unique hands-on aircraft training evolution.

Thanks to the generosity of C&L Aviation Group, scrap aircraft scheduled for disposal were made available for firefighters to get valuable, real-world repetitions in aircraft anatomy, access, stabilization, and extrication techniques.

Opportunities like this are difficult to replicate in a traditional training environment. Being able to put tools on an actual aircraft, identify structural components, understand how different materials react, and work through access and extrication challenges provides experience that simply can’t be gained from a classroom.

Just as important was the opportunity to train side-by-side with our partners at the Maine Air National Guard. With both departments protecting the greater Bangor aviation community, joint training builds familiarity, strengthens working relationships, and helps ensure we’re prepared to operate together when it matters most.

A huge thank you to C&L Aviation Group for recognizing the value of firefighter training and making these aircraft available before disposal, and to the Maine Air National Guard Fire Department for another great opportunity to train together.

Congratulations Chief!

Tonight the City of Bangor, Maine - City Hall council approved the appointment of Deputy Chief Eric Pelletier to be our fire chief. Eric joined the Bangor Fire Department October 17, 2005, promoted to lieutenant February 15, 2015, promoted to captain July 29, 2018 and promoted to our first ever deputy chief October 7, 2018.

Eric was joined by many members of the department, mutual-aid departments and his wife Lindsay and son Evan. Eric has previously served with the Waterville Fire - Rescue department and Town of Hermon Fire Department. Eric has a Bachelor of Science in Fire Administration and serves on several boards including the Penobscot County Fire Chief's Association and the IAFC - International Association of Fire Chiefs.

Please join us in congratulating Chief Pelletier in his new role. We look forward to the leadership and experience that he will bring to our department and community.
