FWIW I was a big fan of his "Haunted Collector" show. Though I never could shake the feeling it was good way to get free artifacts for his haunted museum. Though it's not what actually happened in the show I kept envisioning some victorian-era trickster that probably did go around telling people "Oh yeah, this priceless art in your castle, is haunted AF, I'll be happy to look after it for you."

Celebrity guest announcement John Zaffies

Zaffis has over forty years of experience as a paranormal investigator.[2] Research has taken Zaffis all over the United States as well as Canada, England, and Scotland. He lectures at colleges, universities, and libraries throughout the United States, although usually not under academic auspices.[3] Zaffis currently runs the Museum of the Paranormal located in Stratford, Connecticut. He also starred in and wrote the documentary film Museum of the Paranormal, which was released in spring 2010 and produced by New Gravity Media.[4] His first book, Shadows of the Dark, was co-written with Brian McIntyre and published in 2004 through iUniverse.[2]
A documentary film on his work and personal life, called John Zaffis: The World Within and produced by CORE Films (which also produced the paranormal documentary series Scared!), was released on September 3, 2010.[5]

Zaffis starred in a documentary TV series on Syfy called Haunted Collector, which premiered on June 1, 2011. It features him, his son, his daughter, and three other crew members searching for ghosts in certain buildings people call upon him to investigate. The premise of the show is that the crew finds an item in the building that may have some sort of connection with a haunting. The show was initially cancelled in November 2013. It has subsequently been renewed and as of October 2016 is releasing new episodes on Destination America.

A little late, but I found this creepy legend about August tucked into the corner of the newspaper as a space filler, while doing research. One of the stranger little tidbits I've ever found. Does this legend have an origin?

While researching the Phippsburg, Maine area I came across this image, and I can't stop thinking about Grumpus and Polokus.

"Three Fevers Camp," was a Quaker summer work camp founded and operated by Albert L Bailey jr., a schoolteacher and theologian from Pennsylvania, and his wife during the Great Depression.

Based on this image, it appears that there were two very distinctive ventriloquist-type dummies or puppets, that possibly served as mascots for the camp. Grumpus is a very angry-looking one-eyed tough guy, while Polokus looks like a dapper trickster. It makes me wonder if Grumpus and Polukus are still to be found anywhere in this world. Perhaps in an attic somewhere gathering dust. What stories could they tell?
