There’s something special about the vineyard this time of year.

The vines are full, the grapes are ripening, and everywhere you look, the vineyard is alive with the promise of another harvest.

It’s one of our favorite times of the year at Nitz W**es, and a beautiful reminder that every bottle begins right here.

Meet Vino, our four-legged vineyard supervisor.

Around here, Vino takes the job seriously: inspecting the rows, keeping an eye on the vines, greeting visitors, and making sure no good patch of sunshine goes unused.

While the grapes do the growing and the w**emakers do the pouring, Vino brings the kind of quiet vineyard wisdom only a dog can offer: stay loyal, enjoy the fresh air, and never miss a chance to wander between the rows.

Every vineyard needs a little character.

Ours has a wagging tail.

August has a way of making every evening feel borrowed.

The days are still warm, the lake is still calling, and the patio still has a few golden hours left in it. It is the perfect time to open a bottle of Nitz W**es and stretch summer a little longer.

Pour Oaked Chardonnay with grilled chicken or fresh fish. Open South Facing Red with burgers, barbecue, or pizza night. Save Ice W**e for those slow after-dinner moments when dessert is optional but a good glass is not.

Locally grown. Locally made. Ready for the last big exhale of summer.

The vineyard starts to feel like it’s holding its breath.

Late July into early August is a quiet but important stretch in the vineyard. Clusters are formed, the canopy is full, and the grapes are beginning their slow move toward ripening. We’re watching for the first signs of veraison, managing airflow, and giving the vines what they need as the vintage begins to take shape.

It’s not harvest yet, but the countdown has started. Every warm day, cool night, lake breeze, and careful pass through the rows helps shape what these grapes will become in the glass.

When summer turns up the heat, Sparkle brings the chill.

When the air is warm, the grill is busy, and the porch chairs have officially become a second living room, Nitz Sparkle brings the refreshment. It’s bright, crisp, bubbly, and made for the kind of days that start with sunshine and end with “we should open something fun.”

Perfect with salty snacks, fresh fruit, grilled seafood, summer salads, or absolutely no plan at all.

Chill it. Pop it. Let summer sparkle.

Every bottle starts long before the cork is pulled.

Our story is rooted in generations of family farming in Southwest Michigan. Since 1893 the Nitz family has worked the land, studied the seasons, and grown with the rhythm of Lake Michigan Shore w**e country.

What began with farming has grown into estate-made w**es that carry the character of this place: the lake effect, the sandy soils, the cold winters, the warm summers, and the hands-on care that happens in the vineyard year after year.

History is not just something behind us. It is growing in every row.

Some w**es were made to sit down for dinner.

Nitz South Facing Red is a smooth, food-friendly red that brings out the best in rich, savory flavors. Pour it with grilled burgers, steak, barbecue chicken, roasted vegetables, mushroom flatbread, tomato-based pasta, or a backyard pizza night that somehow becomes the main event.

It has enough depth for the grill, enough balance for the table, and enough Michigan-grown character to make every bite feel a little more local.

Open a bottle. Fire up the good stuff. Let dinner take its time.
