đ¨ If youâve had your Google Business Profile suspended or restricted recently, youâre definitely not alone.
Current Mood: đ¤Śââď¸
Google decided to restrict our Business Profile yesterday, and it wasnât just Cornerstoneâs. Businesses all over the country are getting caught up in Googleâs latest enforcement wave, including legitimate companies.
Iâve already submitted my appeal and removed myself as a manager from all of my clientsâ profiles while Google reviews everything.
And⌠Iâm here to give you an overview of what is happening to hopefully help prevent you from having to deal with the same thing.
đ¨Google is using much stronger automated detection, so issues that may have gone unnoticed before are being flagged faster. Unfortunately, legitimate businesses are getting caught in the same net.
Since late April 2026, Google has run multiple enforcement waves:
⢠April 27: Large numbers of individual profiles were suspended, many labeled âDeceptive Contentâ
⢠May 3: Enforcement escalated to full account restrictions, which can affect every listing managed under the same Google account
⢠Ongoing: Suspensions and account restrictions have continued
What is triggering most suspensions right now:
⢠Keyword-stuffed or promotional business names
⢠Ineligible addresses, including virtual offices, PO boxes, or residential addresses without a proper business presence
⢠Incentivized or manipulated reviews
⢠Major changes made quickly to the business name, address, category, or phone number
⢠Inconsistencies between the profile and other business records
This does not appear to be one brand-new policy that suddenly changed everything. It is stricter enforcement of existing guidelines, along with tighter scrutiny around reviews and business identity.
What should you do?
1. Double-check that your business name matches your real-world signage and legal business name
2. Make sure your address meets Googleâs eligibility requirements
3. Stop offering any incentives in exchange for reviews
4. Avoid making multiple major changes at the same time
5. Keep strong documentation ready, including utility bills showing the business name, photos of your location and signage, licenses, and other official records
If your profile or the Google account managing it has been affected, do not panic. Many legitimate businesses can be reinstated with a strong appeal package. However, cleaning up potential issues before a restriction happens is much easier than trying to recover afterward.

In the meantime⌠this pretty much sums up my feelings about it. đâđ
