Teachable Tuesday:

With all young scholars returning back to school, we want to thank Faith 7th Day Adventist for inviting us last Sunday to participate in a fun day.

Our firefighter were able to display and do a demonstration on our tools/equipment. Also, showed off their turnout gear to explain the different components and protection it provides our fireman. They ended the demo with a spray from the firehouse to keep cool on the last few days of summer break.

Engine 513 was dispatched along with Central Fire Department and Baton Rouge Fire Department for a reported structure fire.

Upon arrival, 513 found a grass fire less than half acre with a large tree on fire due to down electrical wires. There were no threats to any structures. Fire personnel were able to extinguish and contain the fire. Entergy has been notified to address the down power line. Solid work, crew!

We send our deep condolences to the family and friends of Philip Castleberry as well the St. George Fire Department. You all are in our prayers and thoughts at this time. Rest easy brother.

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our brother, Special Services Officer Philip Castleberry (SG-43).

Philip was a devoted husband, father, firefighter, and public servant who dedicated his life to serving others with honor and compassion. When we say Philip was “one of the best”, we mean it. His impact on our department and our community will never be forgotten.

Please keep Philip’s family, friends, and our St. George Fire Protection District family in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.

Funeral arrangements and additional details will be shared as they become available.

Rest easy, brother. We’ll take it from here.
