J. Christopher Alexander - Founder / Partner

J. Christopher Alexander is a native of Shreveport, Louisiana. He attended the Louisiana Scholars College in Natchitoches, La before receiving his BA from Louisiana State University in 1995. He received his law degree from LSU in 1999. Following an internship with

the Honorable Chet Traylor, former Associate Justice of the Louisiana Supreme Court, Alexander completed a Judicial Clerkship with the Honorable Ralph Tureau of the Louisiana 23rd Judicial District Court. Since 2000, Alexander has handled multiple high profile cases including the successful federal representation of former US Congressman Rodney Alexander, the unanimous acquittal of James R. Thomas in an alleged murder involving a handgun, and the unanimous reversal by the US Fifth Circuit Court of Appeal in a major 1st Amendment case while representing 9 current and former officers of the Lafayette Police Department. Alexander also secured the reversal of the murder conviction of Patrick Ovide, who stood accused of murder with a handgun. Alexander successfully argued that Ovide acted in self-defense. Alexander has successfully represented clients across the state of Louisiana. He is licensed to practice in all Louisiana state and federal courts, and the federal Southern District of Texas. Alexander is also sensitive to the wrongful prosecution of gun owners for exercising their second amendment rights. Alexander has secured civil verdicts and settlements in favor of many individuals who have been wrongfully arrested and/or prosecuted in gun related cases. Alexander is a staunch defender of the right to keep and bear arms enshrined in the second amendment. He stands ready to vigorously defend any gun owner criminally charged for defending himself, his family, or his property by use of a gun. Alexander has been married to Catherine Norwood Alexander, a Baton Rouge native, since 2000. He is the proud father of 4 boys, Jack, 12, Barrow, 10, Eli, 5, and Genin,10 months. Robert N. Ray "Rob"

Mr. Ray is a founding partner of Ray, Alexander, & Craig, LLC. Ray was raised in Baker, Louisiana. Baker is a small town just north of Baton Rouge. Ray was raised in a low income family like many of the people in the community and as such he witnessed many friends go to jail, lose their homes, or be forced to accept limited custody of their children, because they could not afford decent legal representation. Ray’s upbringing in a community where most families had very little yet were quick to give what they had to a neighbor in need has continued to color both his personal and professional decisions. Ray has accepted numerous pro bono juvenile appointments. Also, he took a position with the Public Defender’s Office where he has tried hundreds of cases from murders and rapes to driving while intoxicated and misdemeanor thefts. While the vast majority of his private practice focuses on criminal defense, Mr. Ray describes himself as a throwback to the old community attorney. When asked about the type of law that he practices, Mr. Ray simply replies, “I represent people, no big businesses or insurance companies.” Mr. Ray’s diverse practice has involved everything from facilitating the adoption of a 12 year old girl by the man who had raised her since birth to stopping the city from demolishing an 89 year old woman’s home where she had lived for over 50 years and raised her five children to being part of the Corey “C-Murder” Miller trial team. Ray attended Louisiana State University where he received his undergraduate degree in Theatre and was the co-founder of a small Louisiana based film company, Aurora Digital Films. Later, Mr. Ray earned his Juris Doctorate from Southern University Law Center. Ray’s background in Theatre and film was a driving force behind his passion for Trial work. Trial Attorneys, like Directors, represent a dying breed of individuals referred to as “Story Tellers.” Mr. Ray firmly believes that “everyone deserves their day in court,” which he interprets as “everyone deserves to have their story told.”

Mr. Ray has been married to a beautiful Cajun girl, Beven Budden Ray, from Lafayette, Louisiana for over ten years. and Mrs. Ray have three children; Cooper, who is 5 years old, Carter, who is 3 years old, and brand new baby girl named Caylee. Ray proudly holds a Louisiana Lifetime Hunter’s License and is an avid duck hunter. Ray, whenever possible, loves to spend time in Pecan Island, Louisiana, hunting and fishing with his father-in-law and brothers-in-law at the family camp. Ray is a strong supporter of the Second Amendment. Ray’s support for the Second Amendment is not limited to recreational hunting. Above all, Mr. Ray is a family man. He owns numerous handguns (which stay properly secured with young children in the house) for the purpose of protecting his family. Ray believes this constitutional right to bear arms is paramount to his fundamental right to protect his family and strives to ensure we continue to enjoy this Second Amendment protection. Ray formed this firm with two like-minded attorneys to provide legal representation for individuals who may face legal issues which arise from their shared belief in the right to protect their family.

Funding for Criminal Defendants is issue that most people file under the "not my problem" heading... However, I ensure you that could not be further from the truth...

I'm asked constantly "how can you represent those people?" I always respond that I am not just doing it for that person, but I am fight for you & me... See rights are a funny thing... If you don't protect them for one person, then lose them for every person... The line gets moved for what we judge as acceptable government intrusion upon your personal liberties & rights...

The easiest time for the government to move that line is when the intrusion involves the rights of a person who cannot afford to stand up to the injustice & fight to defend their rights...

Should you ever find yourself on the wrong side of that new limited rights line, then you are going to wish your "paid lawyer" had more to work with than unfavorable case law that approves governmental intrusion...

So, please refile this funding issue & contact your State Representative about your concerns... It could be the best investment you make towards the future of yourself or a love one.
