Thanks to our work with Mayor Wade Evans, Central has earned a Class 5 rating from the National Flood Insurance Program!

What this means:
→ 25% discount on flood insurance premiums
→ Saves residents nearly $1 million per year
→ Starts October 1st
→ Up from previous 15% discount

After the devastating 2016 floods that affected 60% of Central's structures, we've been working hard to build better flood protection.

Our team developed innovative solutions including a real-time flood forecasting system that lets residents check water levels during heavy rainfall.

We're proud to help communities become more resilient against flooding while saving residents money.

🌊 Exciting news!

We're proud to announce that our Early Flood Warning System (𝗘𝗮𝗿𝗹𝘆 𝗙𝗹𝗼𝗪𝗦 - https://lnkd.in/gcaS-TCG) is now live in Central, Louisiana!

A huge thank you to the City of Central for their trust and collaboration in bringing this innovative system to their community.

Why is this a game-changer for Central? Early FloWS combines real-time data from multiple sources - including stream gauges, weather radar, and advanced computer models - to predict flooding with street-level precision.

This means:
🏠 Families get crucial early warnings through city notifications
🚒 Emergency teams can position resources exactly where they're needed
🚗 Better planning for evacuation routes when every minute counts
⚡️ Critical infrastructure (power, water, communications) stays better protected

The best part? The system keeps learning and improving, adapting to changes in land use and drainage patterns to maintain accurate predictions over time.

This past week has been nothing short of extraordinary. When we launched our "Pack a U-Haul for Hurricane Helene Relief" campaign on Monday, we hoped to fill a truck with supplies for those affected in East Tennessee and Western North Carolina. Partnering with the Louisiana Cajun Navy, we invited our staff and local community to drop off donations at our corporate office by Thursday.

Being from Louisiana, we understand all too well the impact hurricanes and floods can have on communities. Yet, we were unprepared for the overwhelming generosity that followed. By Wednesday, we realized one U-Haul wouldn't suffice—we needed three. By Thursday, even a fourth truck wasn't enough. On Friday, October 4th, we watched in awe as an 18-wheeler loaded with urgent supplies set off toward the affected areas.

Our hearts are full seeing how our employees, the AEC industry, neighboring businesses, and state entities came together in this effort. A heartfelt thank you to everyone who donated! A special thank you goes to Louisiana Cajun Navy, Capitol Truck Service, CDI Engineering Solutions, AIA Baton Rouge, Louisiana Secretary of State Nancy Landry and her staff, St. Gabriel Hardware, U-Haul, Ellevate Louisiana, Baton Rouge Rehab Hospital, Westaff - Baton Rouge, Alliant Insurance Services, Inc., Shoppers Value Foods, our incredible CSRS employees, and the many family and friends who contributed.

We live by our tagline: building stronger, smarter communities together. We are humbled by the outpouring of support, and our thoughts are with the communities of Tennessee and North Carolina as they begin rebuilding.
