Our clinical team recently had the opportunity to learn from local attorney Jim Lance on an important topic: subpoenas, clinical testimony, and what to expect when appearing in court.

The presentation was well attended and very well received by our staff, providing valuable insight and practical guidance to help our clinicians feel prepared and confident should they ever be called upon to testify.

At Summit Pointe, we believe creating a healthier community starts with awareness, understanding, and connection.

Mental health and substance use challenges affect individuals and families throughout our community, yet stigma can still make it difficult for people to talk about what they are experiencing or reach out for help. Sometimes the biggest barrier isn't whether help is available—it's knowing where to turn, feeling comfortable asking, and believing you will be treated with dignity and respect when you do.

That's why we're launching .

Through this awareness campaign, we want to create conversations, increase understanding, reduce stigma, and help our community know that support is available. We also want to introduce you to the people who make this work possible and share what our values look like in action every day.

Because when someone feels safe asking for help, .

When a person is met with respect instead of judgment, .

And when our community better understands behavioral health and the resources available to support one another, .

This meaningful evening brings our community together to honor our lost loved ones, support those affected by su***de, and shine a light on hope, healing, and prevention for those who are still struggling.

Our Veteran Navigator, Michele Pascoe, recently participated in a veterans roundtable with federal leaders, where she had the opportunity to meet U.S. Secretary of Veterans Affairs Doug Collins.

The discussion focused on the issues that matter most to those who have served, including access to benefits, housing, mental health services, and other critical resources. Michele continues to advocate for veterans across our community, ensuring their voices are heard and their needs remain a priority.

Grateful for the opportunity to attend the Art of Living Day celebration and reflect on the importance of leading with purpose, compassion, and connection.

One of my biggest takeaways from the evening was that meaningful leadership isn't just about what we accomplish—it's about how we show up for others and the impact we have on the people around us.

Congratulations to the Art of Living organization on this well-deserved recognition and thank you for the work you do to inspire communities to lead with kindness and purpose.

Mental health stigma is learned at a young age. Check this out ⬇️

You wouldn't tell them to hide their broken arm. Don't teach them to hide a broken heart.

Stigma surrounding behavioral health care starts young. When we treat emotional struggles differently than physical injuries, we send the message that asking for help is something to be ashamed of. But real strength isn't hiding pain, it's having the courage to talk about it.

Let's create a world where every child knows that mental health deserves the same attention, support, and understanding as physical health.

It was wonderful to celebrate Lisa, the winner of our Mental Health Month t-shirt design contest! Lisa’s design captured the spirit of awareness, hope, and support in a meaningful way, and it was exciting to see her creativity represented throughout Summit Pointe during Mental Health Month. Thank you, Lisa, for sharing your talent and helping spark important conversations across our organization and community.

Several years ago, Rep. Frisbie introduced me to Stephanie Swanson Chang after the tragic loss of her son. Her son struggled with behavioral health symptoms and was unable to access timely care when he needed it most. The very systems that were supposed to support him created barriers instead.

That conversation stayed with me. Hearing directly about the challenges families faced accessing behavioral health care helped shape the decision to fully implement and open First Step, Summit Pointe’s Psychiatric Urgent Care Center, in 2021 creating a low-barrier access point for individuals and families in Calhoun County experiencing a behavioral health crisis.

Since then, First Step has become an important community resource, and I remain thankful not only for that introduction, but for the relationship that followed. Stephanie and I did not meet just once but over the years we have continued to meet, collaborate, and advocate for better behavioral health care in our community. Today, Stephanie serves on the Summit Pointe Board, continuing to be a strong voice and advocate for individuals and families navigating behavioral health challenges in Calhoun County. I’m honored to introduce Dr. Anita Harvey, assistant superintendent at Battle Creek Public Schools and a valued member of the Summit Pointe Board of Directors. At Summit Pointe, we know the mental health needs of young people don’t stop at the classroom door, and neither does the support they deserve. Dr. Harvey works alongside students, families, and educators every day, helping bridge the gaps that can stand in the way of learning, growth, and well-being.

In our latest Summit Pointe Podcast episode, Dr. Harvey shares why social emotional learning must be part of the conversation alongside academics, and how schools and community mental health providers can work together to better support children and families.
