Woohoo, Toby! Congratulations on 40 years!
Christensen winding down after 40 years with Camrud-Foss

When Toby Christensen started working at Camrud-Foss Concrete Construction Inc. in 1986, the price of unleaded gas was about 93 cents a gallon, Ronald Reagan was president, and Kenny Rogers and Bon Jovi were dominating the music charts.
The times have certainly changed, and the business model at Camrud-Foss has evolved along with them.
Now, after four decades with the Moorhead-based company, 64-year-old Christensen is preparing for another change: retirement.
Christensen is a one-third owner of Camrud-Foss, along with fellow owners Jeff Wiese, Scott Persoon and Matt Erickson. He plans to begin stepping away from the company at the end of 2026.
“The plan is to sell my shares (to the other current owners) at the end of this year and work part-time for one more year,” Christensen said.
Christensen graduated from Moorhead State University, now Minnesota State University Moorhead, with a degree in construction management in 1983. He admittedly bounced around trying to find jobs “in the tough economic times with the high interest rates.”
Those were challenging years for the construction industry. National interest rates were hovering just below 14 percent in 1983 after reaching a high of about 18 percent in 1981.
Christensen eventually found his way to Camrud-Foss in 1986 and became a part-owner in 1996.
