💜🩵 Remembering Lives. Honoring Nurses. Shining a Light on Su***de Prevention.

Legacy Keepers Nurse Honor Guard of Arkansas will be participating in Saline Memorial Hospitals Annual Luminary Lighting Ceremony.

Each light represents a life remembered—and serves as a reminder that behind every su***de statistic is a person who was loved by family, friends, and a community.

Our Nurse Honor Guard has witnessed this personally, and realize being a nurse does not eliminate the possibility of experiencing the same pain, depression, and suffering that affect so many others. Here in Saline County and surrounding areas, we have lost several amazing nurses to su***de, and we want to make sure their lives and their service are remembered.

If you have lost a nurse to su***de, you may submit their name for special recognition during the ceremony by Sunday, September 20. Please text 501-574-2279 with their name and nursing credentials. 💜🩵

If you have lost another loved one to su***de, or know someone who survived a su***de attempt, names may be submitted through Monday, September 21 for inclusion in the ceremony at SalineMemorial.org/Luminary.

May every light remind us to check on one another, speak their names, and remember that no one should have to carry their pain alone.

Legacy Keepers Nurse Honor Guard of Arkansas wants to remind every nurse:

Too many times, nurses hide their own pain behind a simple “I’m fine.”
They wipe away the tears, straighten their uniform, walk into the next room, and continue caring for everyone else—while quietly carrying wounds no one can see. But nurses need care, too.

● Check on the nurse beside you—and don’t be afraid to let someone check on you.

This week, Legacy Keepers Nurse Honor Guard of Arkansas closed out three very meaningful invitations centered around one promise: We will never forget.

Yesterday, we began with the 9/11 Memorial hosted by the Saline Crossing NSDAR. Today, our members divided between the Little Rock 9/11 Memorial Stair Climb and the Saline County 9/11 Memorial Stair Climb, placing wreaths at both events and volunteering throughout the climbs.

Participants climbed 2,071+ stairs, representing the tremendous climb firefighters faced inside the World Trade Center on September 11, 2001. Along the way, our members offered encouragement, cold water, and fresh bananas and Cuties—generously donated by Benton Walmart—to help replenish potassium and deter muscle cramps.
But our purpose went beyond supporting the climb.

We shared the stories of the 11 nurses who lost their lives on 9/11—two aboard the hijacked planes, two working inside the towers, one visiting the towers, and others who also served as firefighters, law enforcement officers, or first responders. And today, there were nurses who climbed in honor of those nurses.
They carried their names. They remembered their stories. And when the bells began ringing at the end of the climb, one after another, as names were called aloud, it was a powerful reminder of why gatherings like these matter.

As long as we continue to say their names, their stories remain with us. Their sacrifice is remembered. Their legacy is preserved.

Thank you to Roy Wert II and Mike York for allowing Legacy Keepers Nurse Honor Guard of Arkansas to have a small part in these beautiful memorials.

It was a true honor to stand beside you and remember the firefighters, law enforcement officers, EMS professionals, nurses, first responders, and civilians whose lives were forever woven into the history of September 11, 2001.
We remember. We say their names. We will never forget. 🇺🇸

In Loving Memory: The 11 Nurses Lost on September 11, 2001

On this solemn anniversary, we honor eleven extraordinary nurses whose lives were taken in the terror attacks of September 11, 2001. Some were caring for patients in the World Trade Center. Some were passengers on the hijacked flights. Some were serving in other roles as EMS, Firefighters, Medics, law-enforcement. All were healers who answered the call to serve—right to the end.

Today, nursing honor guards across the country stand vigil in their names, light candles in remembrance, and teach new generations that nursing is not just a profession—it is a calling.❤️

Sometimes you find exactly what your heart has been looking for… simply by showing up.

Tuesday, Daniel Smith showed up just to help us tear down our parade float.
Tonight, he showed up again for our Chapter meeting—and decided to join Legacy Keepers.
Just like that.

Daniel is a third-generation nurse and will become our third male nurse to join the organization. His paperwork may still be getting finished, but his nametag and Legacy items are already being ordered because we are so excited to welcome him!
Daniel, we’re awfully glad you showed up.
