"When we’re able to breathe mindfully and joyfully, when we’re able to make steps joyfully, happily, we’re not being selfish; we’re doing that for all our ancestors and for all the children in the world. There’s no wisdom in practicing walking meditation and not enjoying it. If you’re able to practice walking meditation peacefully, then the world has a chance. You have to look at things in that way. That is insight, the fruit of mindfulness. When you know that in every moment of your daily life you can make a contribution, you won’t become a victim of despair and you’ll encourage other people around you. If the pessimistic feeling comes, don’t allow it to stay. Of course there is suffering everywhere in the world, there is suffering in ourselves, in our family, in our society. But if you are doing your best as a person, then there is hope that other people will do the same. Doing your best is your part, your contribution. And that is contagious; people see you and they will be inspired to try to do their best. The courage to live our daily life with compassion and awareness is our positive contribution."

WASHINGTON—Hoping to calm nerves after his government arrested reporters Don Lemon and Georgia Fort, on Friday Donald J. Trump reassured the staff at Fox News Channel that he does not consider them journalists.

“It’s true that I’m engaging in a systematic attack on the First Amendment rights of journalists,” he told the Fox employees. “But obviously none of that applies to you.”

Offering further comfort, Trump added, “I would never have hired Pete Hegseth if I thought he was a journalist.”

In a sentiment widely echoed by his colleagues, “Fox & Friends” co-host Steve Doocy responded, “Mr. President, we weren’t really worried.”

At the White House, press secretary Karoline Leavitt revealed that Trump had sent a similar message of reassurance to CBS News chief Bari Weiss.

This feels like a watershed moment.

A lot of times you don’t really get something until it hits you right in the face. Millions of Americans who regularly watched Jimmy Kimmel have just been hit in the face.

What a chilling line this is coming from a U.S. President: “Congratulations ABC for finally having the courage to do what had to be done.” The COURAGE to do WHAT HAD TO BE DONE?

If suppressing free speech and shredding the U.S. Constitution takes “courage,” then we’re living in a whole new world.

From Pam Bondi saying “we’re coming after you” if you cross the line (which apparently only she gets to establish) from free speech to hate speech; to the administration getting Steven Colbert and now Jimmy Kimmel fired, and the President posting that Jimmy Fallon and Seth Meyers should be next - no matter what your politics, you should be alarmed.

People often say we need to seek “common ground.” The most important common ground is not on the level of policy: it’s our common adherence to the U.S. Constitution and the principles of the Declaration of Independence. The good news is this: many conservatives as well as liberals are upset by how this administration so casually dismisses the First Amendment.

The First Amendment protects us all. This President does not.

We the People must stand up to this. So remember: the next NO KINGS DAY is Oct. 18. We need many millions of us on the streets of America, in a peaceful demonstration of patriotism and love.
