A LOT MORE GOES INTO A REPAIR LIKE THIS THAN WHAT YOU SEE IN PICTURES

The entire deck and hull were damaged and had to be ground out, laminated and straitened before gel coating

The finish involves two solid gelcoat colors plus silver metal flake, with a lot of prep between each stage. plus additional prep trying not to allow the flake from appearing in the solid colors when clear coating, which is always present from the factory finish.

Because of the recent high humidity, we had to wait until conditions dropped below 50% humidity before spraying the first session of clear gelcoat. That first clear is now on.

Next comes wet sanding, another session of clear gelcoat, more wet sanding, and final buffing using multiple compounds and pads to bring the finish back.

There are still many hours ahead — additional gelcoat work, wet sanding, buffing, reassembly and final cleanup.

When it’s completed, we’ll show the entire repair from start to finish so you can see exactly what goes into properly repairing and gel coating damage like this.
