Yesterday was a special day for Bayou Grill as we celebrated our One-Year Anniversary, and we just want to say THANK YOU!

We are so thankful for everyone who came out, celebrated with us, spun the prize wheel, won prizes, enjoyed free food, picked up gift cards, soaps, and helped make the day so much fun. Giving back a little was our way of saying thank you for supporting us through this first year.

As we move into year two, we wanted to share a few things we are working on. We have a new menu coming soon. We will be keeping the items everyone loves, removing some items that have not been big sellers, and replacing them with new options we hope you will enjoy. We are also working on adding more healthy choices, bringing in real plates and silverware, finishing our landscaping, improving the parking lot, adding new signage, and working through a few other exciting ideas as we figure out the details and cost.

We know this location has been several different businesses over the years, but our plan is to be here so long that one day this spot will only be remembered as the Bayou Grill location.

Thank you again to everyone who stopped by, wished us well, and helped us celebrate this milestone. We appreciate our customers, our employees, and this community more than you know.

We look forward to seeing y’all again soon at Bayou Grill, your hometown spot by the bridge in Bayou La Batre.

Anniversary Countdown, Day 7

Today Is The Day, Bayou Grill Turns One

One year ago today, we opened the doors at Bayou Grill.

We had a dream, a plan, shallow pockets, a lot of faith, and a whole lot of work behind us. We had painted, cleaned, fixed, moved, planned, worried, prayed, and wondered if people would show up.

Then the doors opened, and they did.

The first year has been a ride. We have had good days, hard days, long days, stressful days, and days that reminded us exactly why we started. We have learned a lot. We have made mistakes. We have changed things. We have improved. And we are still working every day to get better.

Over the past few days, we have looked back at this first year. We talked about the lessons, the Bayou, the food, the experience, our team, and our customers. Today, we just want to say thank you for helping us make it to one year.

Thank you to every person who came in for lunch, had seafood, ordered a burger to go, grabbed chicken fingers for the kids, stopped by for ice cream, tried our daily lunch specials, shared our posts, left us a review, gave us feedback, gave us grace, or told somebody else about us.

We really do love our customers and this community. On the white board in my office, I have a simple motto written down: “Treat every customer like you want to be treated.” That is what we try to do every day.

We know we are not perfect, but we care. If something is not right, we want the chance to make it right while you are here. We want happy customers. We want people to leave feeling glad they came. We want Bayou Grill to be a place this community is proud of.

Now we look ahead to year two.

We still have a lot we want to do. We want to keep improving the food, the service, the building, the landscaping, the outside areas, the signs, the gift shop, the bridge cam, and the overall Bayou Grill experience.

We have ideas for new menu items, more local touches, more fun events, more ways to support the community, and more reasons for people to come enjoy the Bayou.

We are not where we want to be yet, but we are a lot farther than where we started.

Thank you, Bayou La Batre and surrounding area, for helping us make it through our first year.

We love the Bayou, and we are thankful to be here.

We want to give a huge shout out to the man behind Bayou Grill, Jeff Pettit.
Bayou Grill has been Jeff’s lifelong dream. He has poured his heart, soul, countless hours, and even his life savings into creating a place where families and friends can gather and enjoy great food right here in Bayou La Batre.
Most people never see the long days and late nights he puts in, often arriving at 5 or 6 in the morning and not leaving until 1 or 2 the next morning. Jeff is one of the most kind, loving, generous, and selfless people you’ll ever meet, and all he wants is for everyone to leave happy!
Without his determination, hard work, and servant’s heart, Bayou Grill would not be what it is today. Thank you, Jeff, for bringing such a special, family oriented restaurant to our little piece of heaven, the Bayou!

2 Days Until Bayou Grill Turns One

In just two days, Bayou Grill will celebrate one full year since we opened our doors.

Today, we just want to say thank you to our customers.

Thank you to every person who came in for lunch, had seafood, ordered a burger to go, grabbed chicken fingers for the kids, stopped by for ice cream, tried our daily lunch specials, or told somebody else about us.

We really do love our customers and this community. On the white board in my office, I have a simple motto written down: “Treat every customer like you want to be treated.” That is what we try to do every day.

We know we are not perfect, and sometimes things may not come out exactly right. But if you dine with us and there is ever an issue, please let us know while you are here so we can do our best to make it right. If you leave unhappy, it does neither one of us any good. We want happy customers. We really do.

Thank you to the ones who came in during the beginning when we were still figuring things out. Thank you to the ones who gave us grace, gave us feedback, gave us another chance, and kept coming back.

This first year has not been perfect, but it has been real. We have learned a lot, changed a lot, improved a lot, and we are still working every day to make Bayou Grill better.

We are thankful for Bayou La Batre, for the families, the workers, the shrimpers, the shipbuilders, the regulars, the first-timers, and everyone who has helped us make it to this point.

We love the Bayou, and we are thankful to be here.
