When it comes to decision making about retail growth projects, for the love of Gus please look beyond Market Studies.

They only show a small piece of the picture (demographics) and provide generic extrapolated data based on national averages.

And they’re frequently slightly to wildly wrong.

There is a different way.

I conduct a detailed analysis of each competitor that ACTUALLY has relevance to your business. Just because you’re a grocery store doesn’t mean you only pull against other grocers.

With Prepared Foods topping 20-30% of store sales now you have to look at restaurants, cafes, coffee and juice shops etc.

You can’t build revenue estimates on households in the trade area with average spends. You have to see what the total “Pie” is based on accurate revenue surveys of the real marketplace.

New spending dollars don’t just appear because you opened your doors. You’ve got to capture them from the existing pool.

And that’s just the beginning!

One of the core trainings we conduct for clients is Workplace Harassment and Violence Awareness and Prevention.

Most states require all managers and supervisors to attend some form of Workplace Harassment Prevention training.

Who’s doing your training? How they teach and connect is equal to if not more so than the quality of the content. Don’t just check boxes on completing training and development for your teams. Create real learning.
