Often we get asked the question: "Do you offer free estimates?" The short answer is no, but let us explain why:
A large percentage of our completed appliance repairs cost less than $200, including parts and labor.
If we offered free estimates, we'd have to drive to a customer's home (gas, time, etc) properly diagnose the problem, look up the cost of parts, then give an accurate estimate.
Companies such as home improvement contractors, roofing, siding, windows, painting, flooring etc. can offer free estimates, as their completed jobs are often in the thousands of dollars--not hundreds.
The monthly cost to run our work van, including gas, Worker's Comp. Insurance, General Liability insurance, NJ HVACR licensure and bonding, payroll, taxes, etc. is well over $2000 per month.
If we offered free estimates but didn't book the job, we've lost money. If we did that for a consistent length of time, we'd be out of business very quickly. Within weeks likely.
All this to say, small businesses such as ours that run honestly and legitimately, costs money. Especially in the state of NJ.
Sometimes appliance repairs can be estimated over the phone--for free--and we do that when we're fairly certain what the problem is. When that isn't possible, we need to see the appliance in person to give an accurate assessment.
We appreciate all of our customers, and treat each one with honesty and fairness. It costs $$ to run an honest business. โบ๏ธ
