Shade structures are set up in key work areas.
Hydration stations are stocked.
Crews review heat safety protocols before peak temperatures arrive.

Field teams also look out for one another, watching for early signs of heat stress and encouraging regular breaks based on conditions.

EIS 101: How Environmental Review Works

An Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) is designed to answer one core question: what could this project change, and how should those changes be addressed?

It’s a step-by-step process that looks at a project from multiple angles:

Purpose and Need
Why the project is being proposed and what it aims to achieve

Alternatives
Different ways the project could move forward, including options that reduce impacts

Affected Environment
What exists today, from land and water to wildlife and nearby communities

Effects
How those conditions could change based on the project

Mitigation
Measures designed to avoid or reduce potential impacts

At its core, the EIS process brings together science, data, and public input to support informed, transparent decision-making.
