When someone types "near me" into Google — "dentist near me," "auto repair near me," "coffee near me" — Google doesn't just pick the closest businesses. It weighs three things:
Relevance — does your profile actually describe what the person is searching for?
Distance — how close are you to the searcher?
Prominence — how well-known and trusted does your business appear online?
You can't change your location. But you can control relevance (a complete, detailed Business Profile) and prominence (consistent reviews, fresh content, an active online presence).
That's the game. And it's one where small businesses can absolutely compete.
