At Entrusted Auctions/Farmer Auctions, the most rewarding part of what we do is telling the stories behind the items we handle. Today, we are deeply honored to share a sneak peek of a truly lifetime collection belonging to a beloved local figure: Mr. Kenneth McCoy.

A lifelong resident of Montgomery County, a dedicated member of the local rescue squad, and the longtime owner of McCoy Funeral Home, Mr. McCoy was a familiar face, a wonderful supporter of our auctions, and a passionate historian. For over 40 years, he carefully curated an unbelievable collection of Virginia history, emergency services memorabilia, and antique funeral heirlooms.

His wife shared with us that this collection brought him immense joy throughout his entire life. Now, it’s ready for its next chapter.
Because of the sheer size and scale of this incredible archive, we will be presenting it across 2 to 3 dedicated auctions.

What’s coming up:
πŸ”Ή Hundreds of historic Virginia city, county, and porcelain license plates
πŸ”Ή Vintage sirens, emergency light bars, and Rescue Squad memorabilia
πŸ”Ή Rare funeral home advertising signs and antique equipment
πŸ”Ή Two stunning, meticulously preserved antique horse-drawn funeral carriages.

We are currently cataloging this massive piece of local history. Stay tuned for official bidding dates, and join us in celebrating the legacy of a man who loved our community so well.

Lisa Imke serves as the Director of First Impressions at Entrusted Auctions/Farmer Auctions, where she acts as the primary point of contact for our clients and visitors. Lisa recently transitioned into this role from her previous position as a Cataloging Specialist, bringing a wealth of hands-on experience and technical knowledge to the front office. Her deep understanding of auction operations ensures that every inquiry is met with both professional efficiency and expert insight.

Lisa’s eye for detail is lifelong. Growing up in a home filled with antiques, she developed an early appreciation for historic furniture and collectiblesβ€”a passion that defined her work as a cataloger. While she now manages the "front of house," she remains a connoisseur at heart, especially when it comes to her personal collection of inherited 1930s and 1940s kitchenware.

Lisa’s vibrant personality extends well beyond the office:

The Traveler: She has explored England, France, Italy, and 38 U.S. states.

The Super-Fan: You can find her cheering on the Roanoke Rail Yard Dawgs as a dedicated season ticket holder.

The Reader: A voracious bibliophile, she is almost always tackling multiple books at once.

Lisa lives in the Roanoke area with her beloved rescue dog, Lilly, who provides constant laughter and inspiration. Whether you are calling with a question or stopping by to drop off a treasure, Lisa’s unique blend of operational expertise and antique knowledge makes her the perfect guide for your auction experience.

Today, the bustling sound of the auction block goes quiet.

At Entrusted Auctions, our daily lives are built around objects that carry stories. We hold history in our hands every dayβ€”vintage photographs, weathered journals, old uniforms, and medals tucked away safely in velvet-lined boxes. We often think about the hands that held them, the lives they built, and the families who cherished them.

But today, on Memorial Day, our thoughts turn to a different kind of story.

We remember the stories that were cut short. We honor the young men and women who left their homes, their families, and their futures behind, answering a call to service and making the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom. They didn't get the chance to grow old, to watch their children grow, or to accumulate a lifetime of tangible memories.

Their legacy isn’t left behind in a collection of physical belongings. Instead, their legacy is the very fabric of the freedom we enjoy today. It’s in the quiet safety of our neighborhoods, the laughter of our families gathered together this weekend, and the liberty we so often take for granted.

As you enjoy this beautiful Monday with the people you love, we invite you to pause with us in a moment of deep gratitude. Let us remember that freedom is never freeβ€”it was paid for by brave individuals whose stories deserve to be told, remembered, and honored forever.

To all the fallen heroes, and the families who still carry their absence: We see you, we thank you, and we will never forget.
