One of our fellow Nut Wizard friends is presenting at the Arbor Day Conference sponsored by Oswego State University, New York. He raises and shares white oak trees from his back yard. The conference is free. It is today April 24, 2020. His presentation is at 3:00 eastern standard time. The link also has information about an organization that is reforesting the water canal areas of New York. Interesting history! Hello Walnut Picker Uppers!
The first fall of black walnuts is down and most have turned black already! Some nuts were half black on the trees.
Black Walnut pick up tips:
Don't over fill your tool! Empty it about 3/4 ths full.
This will prevent wire stretch.
Let the tool do the work! Don't push down, just roll it!
If you have some nuts half in the ground or more, kick them out or rock the tool Gently until the nut comes loose.
Are nuts separated from the husk?
Set the tool down on them instead of rolling over the nuts, and empty the tool more often. Happy Fall Gathering😊😊😊!
