Celebrate National Trails Day this weekend by looking closer at the spaces we protect.

Our wildlife scientists are always on the lookout for the incredible biodiversity that thrives along our natural corridors. While conducting field work in New Hampshire, one of our team members spotted this beautifully camouflaged tree frog nestled in a tree. Because of their thin, permeable skin, frogs provide insight into the health of an ecosystem, where abundance often means healthy air and water in the surrounding landscape.

Well-maintained trails do more than connect people to nature. They preserve critical habitats for native species, ensuring our local ecosystems remain vibrant and resilient. As a company committed to environmental stewardship, we are proud to support the conservation of these vital green spaces.

We’re heading to the State of the Science on Offshore Energy, Wildlife, and Fisheries conference next week! 🌊🛰️

Our experts are excited to join leading scientists, regulators, and industry peers to discuss the latest research, collaborative monitoring strategies, and data-driven solutions for wildlife and fisheries conservation. More specifically, we’ll be exhibiting at the Mini Tech Surge on Wednesday, June 10th!

We look forward to translating these insights into actionable, sustainable outcomes for our clients and partners. For more information, visit: https://www.nyetwg.com/2026-workshop

Conference Organizers The State of the Science is hosted by the New York State Energy Research & Development Authority (NYSERDA) on behalf of the Offshore Wind Environmental Technical Working Group and the Fisheries Technical Working Group (F-TWG). This year's organizers include:

Our June photo calendar page has a moody vibe, but in the best way!

It features an on-the-water photo of our Woody 1 vessel heading out for a survey at dusk; another sunset, but this time offset by the greenery of Cadillac Mountain in Maine; and a cozy moss-encircled cabin out of Mt Hood in Oregon.

Sometimes the sweetest scenes are those that happen in the twilight hour—when the shadows and light collide.

Last week we said fishing wasn’t a large part of our everyday field work…. But here we go again. Another field crew was recently out on the water conducting sampling for a Radiological Environmental Monitoring Program (REMP). This vital data helps track marine health, assess environmental impacts, and ensure local aquatic ecosystems stay balanced and thriving.

Shoutout to our dedicated crew members who brave the waves to regularly gather essential biological samples. Your hard work keeps our projects grounded in solid science!

Sometimes we do difficult jobs in challenging conditions.... This was NOT one of those days. How excellent is it to have a job that pays you to fish?! Although it’s not necessarily a regular part of our field season, it was definitely an appreciated treat for our staff.

Our scientists are no strangers to variety. Working at Normandeau means being in the forest or on a boat one day, being behind a desk the next, and everything in between. And it’s that flexibility that helps us scale to project needs and/or change our game plan on a dime.

If you’re looking for this kind of flexibility with your next project, drop us a line. 🎣 (See what we did there?) https://www.normandeau.com/contact-us/

At our core, being 100% employee-owned means that the future of our firm is a shared responsibility—and that includes how we show up for our planet and our community. We recently sent three of our own to New Hampshire Businesses for Social Responsibility’s Spring Conference Aligned and Amplified: The Strength of Local Collaboration to explore how corporate social responsibility (CSR) can be woven even deeper into the fabric of our culture.

Our Head of Marketing (who also serves on the NHBSR’s Board of Directors) joined forces with an officer from our ESOP Advisory Committee and a representative from HR. Together, they explored a variety of topics promoting a sustainable future for employees, leadership, and within New Hampshire communities.

We were also thrilled to once again sponsor NHBSR’s Cornerstone Award as it gives us the distinct honor to recognize and support organizations and individuals that exemplify the principles of corporate social responsibility both in-house and throughout the New Hampshire business community. Congratulations to Bangor Savings Bank—the 2026 winner of the Cornerstone Award! Your company continuously demonstrates what corporate social responsibility looks like when it is built into the foundation of an institution rather than added on as an afterthought.

What a pleasure it was to both sponsor this wonderful award and send a few representatives to soak up the unique insights and tips of the day.

Our Peach Bottom (PB) Pennsylvania crew headed over to the NorthBay Education for the second year in a row to put their Volunteer Time Off to good use! NorthBay is a 97-acre facility located in Elk Neck State Park in Northeast, MD. Hosting over 20,000 middle school kids every year, NorthBay focuses on outdoor scientific lessons, social emotional learning, and MWEEs (Meaningful Watershed Educational Experience).

This year, our staff took on the ambitious project of helping to build a new UTV bridge on the Green Fern Trail to provide medical response access to more remote parts of the trail. The PB crew dug holes for the support beams and built the frame. Although our crew only had time to build the base, another group of volunteers stopped by to lay the planks to finish the top of the bridge. Thank you to our PB folks for making a difference for these kids and making outdoor education even more accessible!
