Cannabis use has become increasingly normalized in the United States, and at least half the states have “medical marijuana” laws. This reversed criminalization, but rather than following FDA-like testing and approval, cannabis was suddenly "a medicine." Access to cannabis or its intoxicant THC has never been greater. Adolescents may not legally purchase cannabis; however, their access has increased.

Disturbing new studies indicate cannabis use in adolescents and young adults significantly increases risk for suicidal behaviors.

Reactive attachment disorder (RAD) in teens is differentiated from pervasive developmental disorder or developmental delay and from possibly comorbid conditions such as intellectual disability, all of which can affect attachment behavior.

With appropriate treatment, children with reactive attachment disorder may develop more stable and healthy relationships.

An estimated 80,000 people died from drug overdoses in the US last year, according to provisional data released by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. That’s down 27 percent from the 110,000 in 2023.
