Best documentary I’ve seen in a long time! I don’t recall learning all the details and meaning behind the lyrics that are presented in this film. I imagine there are a lot of folks out there singing our national anthem without the knowledge and visual imagery within in their minds and hearts to express the real meaning and significance while singing the lyrics of the Star Spangled Banner. May this short film glean an educational and memorable understanding!

Okay, I didn’t expect to make a second post regarding Good & Piddling, but now all my senses are in an uproar over what poured out of my candy box! Perhaps this box of candy (i.e., Good & Plenty) accidentally succumbed to one of the food industry’s worst plagued nightmares! You know what I’m thinkin’ about, right? Eeek and what the…? This nightmare discovery has now caused my mind to conjure up an old ear-worm tune, one that I’m confident all of us Gen-X folks’ are familiar with from the 1972 horror drama “Ben” with the famous hot theme song “Ben,” recorded by the one and only, Michael Jackson!

Note: The thinly white coated licorice candy may look fractured, but yet alarmingly it looks as if some kind of critter taste-tester took a nice bite out of it! Also, why are the pink coated candies coated thicker than the speckled transparent-looking, whitish, light gray candies?

Today, I suddenly got a craving for black licorice and grabbed a box of my all time favorite childhood candy Good & Plenty. To my unwelcome surprise, what’s in the box no longer matches what’s on the outside of the box, meaning the colorful brand imaging on the exterior package design doesn’t match! First off, the box size appears to be narrower, perhaps the company downsized it from a slightly higher weight to the current net weight of 6 oz?

Regardless, it’s the size of the Good & Plenty boxed content that really matters. I hate to say this, but it’s obvious there’s been a slight bait and switch going on here in the brand marketing of this beloved coated licorice candy.

Note: The Good & Plenty candy has decreased in its size and shape compared to the bright white and magenta illustrated silhouettes portrayed on the exterior of the package design. This undoubtedly leaves the consumer (ME!) thoroughly annoyed to have wasted my time to stop and shop for this box of Good & Plenty at a gas station today!

In other words, the “Good & Plenty” should be rebranded as “Good & Piddling!” For the fact is, this is no longer the same old nostalgic candy we all grew up with! Each candy is almost half the morsel size of the coated black licorice it used to be! Oh my goodness! At least include a disclaimer on the front of the candy box that warns consumers, “Portrayed candy is NOT true to size.”
