“How is treatment going?”
A caring question. But it can leave out the everyday things… like whether dinner tastes the same, your mouth feels dry, or eating has become uncomfortable.

Some cancer treatments may cause mouth sores, dryness, tenderness, or taste changes. Experiences vary—there isn’t one story everyone shares.

And when you’re already juggling appointments and updates, mentioning your mouth might feel like adding one more thing.

Please mention it anyway. You don’t have to decide whether it’s “important enough.”

This Breast Cancer Awareness Month, we’re making room for that conversation. Let your oncology team and our Bellaire Periodontics team know what you’re noticing so dental care can be coordinated around your individual treatment plan.

“Can you save it… or do I need an implant?”

It’s a fair question. You want an answer—not another evening of searching the internet and getting five different opinions.

But the part of the tooth you can see doesn’t tell the whole story.

We look at the gums, the bone around the tooth, what can be repaired, how your teeth meet, and how manageable ongoing care would be.

Sometimes saving the tooth means treating what supports it, too. Sometimes replacement becomes part of the conversation. Neither should be decided from a photo—or someone else’s experience.

At Bellaire Periodontics, the conversation starts with understanding your tooth before choosing a treatment.

Save this before asking the internet which option is “best.” The more useful question is: “What makes this option fit my situation?”
