Established 1992 by Chad Pastotnik, Deep Wood Press has continued the centuries old tradition of han Deep Wood Press, established 1992 by Chad Pastotnik.

Nestled in the forest along the banks of the Cedar River in Northern Michigan’s Antrim County, Deep Wood Press has continued the centuries old tradition of hand crafted printed items, bindings and book matter. With a foundation in fine art and a careful attention to craftsmanship and detail the end result is more than a vehicle for information. Our books are printed via letterpress with metal type

on fine papers and illustrated with artwork from original wood engravings, lino cuts and intaglio prints created by Chad Pastotnik and other gifted artists for these editions. The sheets are then bound by hand in traditional and contemporary book structures to please the eye as well as the mind – which we endeavor to impress as carefully as our papers.

The bindery monkeys were here in force today sewing up the paper copies of Mornings at Jack Pine by Jerry Dennis illustrated with wonderful wood engravings from Glenn Wolff. Madeleine joined in too along so a full bindery table with lots of busy hands. Thanks for all the hard work on such a hot day!
