Watching Saturday Closely in the Central Plains.

A plume of moisture is forecasted to surge north out of the Gulf intersecting a small potent area in the Jetstream zipping overhead and bone dry air to the southwest.

This could act as a trigger zone to spark off an arc of storms in western Nebraska and Kansas Saturday afternoon and push east overnight.

Details will become more clear on hazard/timing/location specifics in a couple of days.

In this week’s edition of the Fairbury Journal-News is a story about an FBI raid on the abandoned Methodist Church in Western. Since that story went to press, FJN has learned that raid was connected to a larger investigation into a thwarted terrorist plot against the UFC event at the White House over the weekend. Five suspects have been arrested, including a Nebraska man. This is a developing story. We will publish more details in future issues of the Fairbury Journal-News.

Anything else you would like to share about yourself : All the sports I coach are just different ways to bring life lessons to student-athletes. I have been fortunate to be coached by great coaches in high school at Jackson Heights (Lyle Alley, Dave Henry, Jack Sheldon) and in college at ESU (Bill Tidwell, Mark Stanbrough, Dennis Weber). I student-coached with Bob Karr at Emporia High and helped coach the Emporia Track Club while in college. I have been fortunate to work with great student-athletes in a wonderful community. Pike Valley has been good to me. My hope is to continue by paying that forward. There are thousands of stories and all have been important to me. ‘Life is full of choices’ is something I frequently say, and I have enjoyed leading by the Ralph Waldo Emerson quote, “Nothing great was ever achieved without enthusiasm!”
