And todays Fire Prevention Tip - Make sure your heating appliances for winter are clean and ready. Have your chimney and fireplace cleaned, make sure your furnace vent pipe is in good condition and clean, and ensure your dryer vent is clear of any lint. Blockages in any of the above can start a devastating fire. A little work today can save a whole lot tomorrow!

Another day of Fire Prevention Week. Todays post comes with an assignment for everyone. Just as we are telling the kids in the schools, it is time to test your smoke detectors! Take a couple minutes today to test all your detectors and make sure they are working. Check the date they were manufactured as well. If they are over 10 years old, it is time to replace them.

This week is Fire Prevention Week! That means that firefighters will be in the schools talking to kids about fire prevention. We will be showing them firetrucks and firehouses, and they will be learning about smoke detectors and Stop, Drop, and Roll! They will also be learning how to "CHARGE INTO FIRE SAFETY". That is the theme for this years Fire Prevention Week. It focuses on everyday charging habits, and how to reduce the risk of fires from the batteries that are in our electronic devices.

To find out more, visit our website and check out the latest edition of Hot Flashes that was sent out to our District residents last week. www.shfd.net/hot-flashes.html.
