🧠 Chunk it Like a Pro: The Secret to Keeping Learners Engaged
Overwhelmed learners = underwhelming results.
That’s why chunking content isn’t just a design trick—it’s a learning lifesaver.

When you break training into bite-sized, focused segments, you:
✅ Reduce cognitive overload
✅ Keep attention locked in
✅ Boost recall and application

Check out our "Chunk it Like a Pro" infographic below for:
📌 Why cognitive load matters
📌 Real-world examples of chunking in action

Not all animation tools are created equal—and not every project needs the same approach. 🎬✨

In this week’s video, we break down three popular options:
🖊 Doodly – Simple whiteboard animations, perfect for quick explainers and visual storytelling
🎨 Vyond – Professional, character-driven animations that bring scenarios to life
🎥 Premiere Pro – Advanced video editing for high-end, fully customized content

So… how do you choose?
✅ Match the tool to your learning objectives
✅ Consider your audience’s preferences and expectations
✅ Balance quality with production time and budget

The right choice can make your message clear, memorable, and impactful—while the wrong one could waste resources and dilute your message.

🎥 Watch our video to see side-by-side comparisons, examples, and tips on when each tool shines.

👇 Which tool do you use most for training content—and why?

Ever felt overwhelmed by the alphabet soup of instructional design?
ADDIE, SAM, AGILE—what do they actually mean, and how do you choose?

This week, we’re going Back to Basics with a quick video that breaks down the big three instructional design models:
🧱 ADDIE = classic, structured, step-by-step
🔄 SAM = fast, flexible, feedback-driven
⚙️ AGILE = modular, sprint-based, team-oriented

The truth? There’s no “one-size-fits-all” model.
It’s about using the right tool for the job—and knowing when to pivot.

🎥 Watch this quick video to find your fit.

👇 Then tell us—what model do you reach for most often?

If your question is a riddle or a trick… it’s not a check.
It’s a trap. 🪤

No matter the format—eLearning, classroom, or virtual live session—your knowledge checks serve one purpose:
🧠 To test whether the learner understood what was just taught.

They’re not meant to surprise learners or test how clever your wording is. They’re there to validate comprehension of your learning objectives before the learner moves on.

Here’s what separates a weak question from a strong one:

🔻 Weak Questions:
• Vague wording or tricky phrasing
• Use of double negatives
• Unrelated to what was just taught
• Focused on obscure details, not key concepts
• Include misleading distractors that encourage guessing over thinking
• Aren’t connected to any clear objective

💪 Strong Questions:
• Directly aligned to a learning objective
• Use clear, simple language
• Reinforce key takeaways through recall or application
• Give meaningful feedback (even for wrong answers)

When placed strategically in your training—after key content blocks or before major transitions—knowledge checks help you confirm that learners are on track before they move on.
✅ eLearning? They keep self-paced learners engaged and accountable.
✅ Instructor-led? They give facilitators a real-time pulse check.
✅ Blended? They bridge content across formats and moments.

Build it like a sandcastle. 🏖️
Start with a solid base, layer with purpose, and pack it with content that actually sticks. Because when the tide comes in (or your learners hit “next”), only well-built training stands strong.

This week, we’re going Back to Basics with the structure of a strong eLearning module:
1. 🏁 Introduction – Grab attention and set the stage
2. 🎯 Clear Objectives – Tell learners what they’ll be able to do
3. 📚 Well-Sequenced Content – Organized and digestible, not overwhelming
4. 🐚 Visual Interest + Interactivity – Keep eyes open and minds engaged (Hint: the secret sauce to engagement)
5. ✅ Knowledge Checks – Reinforce and assess learning in real time
6. 🔁 Summary – Tie it all together with key takeaways

🧠 Think of it like a learning blueprint. When the structure is solid, everything else clicks into place.

👇 Tell us: Which of these elements do you find most often missing—or most overlooked?

Are Your Objectives Actually SMART?
Let’s be honest...we’ve all seen objectives like:
- “Improve communication.”
- “Understand the process.”
- “Know more about safety.”
Sound familiar? They look like objectives—but they won’t help your learners hit the target, and they won’t help you prove your training worked.

🎯 That’s why this week, we’re going Back to Basics with one of the most important skills in instructional design: writing SMART objectives.

SMART =
✅ Specific
✅ Measurable
✅ Achievable
✅ Relevant
✅ Time-bound

If your objectives aren’t SMART… your learners are left guessing, your assessments might miss the mark, and your training ROI? Practically invisible.

💬 What trend are you watching in the learning space? Drop it below!

🔁 Up Next: We’re Getting Back to Basics
Sure, AI is transforming the landscape—but strong instructional design still starts with the fundamentals.

This summer, we’re pressing pause on the tech talk (just a little) to revisit the foundations that power every great learning experience:
✏️ Writing SMART objectives that actually shape course outcomes
🎯 Analyzing the anatomy of a well-written knowledge check (no fluff, no guesswork)
📚 Reviewing design methodologies that stand the test of time

Because a well-built foundation never goes out of style. Follow along in July and August as we break it down, rebuild it right, and set you up to lead with clarity.

📣 Dear AI: Can You Build My Course?
Answer: Yes, but not without a co-pilot—and that’s you.

The bottom line is that AI can absolutely HELP you build courses: by drafting outlines, writing scripts, creating quizzes, translating content, and even generating videos starring AI avatars.

But here’s the thing: it doesn’t know your learners, your brand, or your goals. YOU do.
That’s why the smartest L&D teams use AI as a partner, not a replacement.

🤖 What AI can do:
• Draft learning objectives and outlines
• Generate quiz questions and feedback
• Translate content into multiple languages
• Create video scripts and avatar narration
• Suggest scenarios and roleplays
• Brainstorm engagement ideas
• Summarize meeting notes, subject matter expert (SME) interviews, or documents
• Build basic images or job aid layouts

💡 Pro Tips:
✅ Use AI to accelerate, not automate
✅ Always review for tone, accuracy, and relevance
✅ Don’t skip learner empathy and instructional strategy
✅ Think of it as your junior assistant—not your boss

AI can draft. But quality still needs a human in the loop.
