This past Saturday, Food Lifeline teamed up with letter carriers at post office locations throughout the greater Seattle area for Stamp Out Hunger, the nation’s largest one-day, annual food drive. DLI joined other community volunteers at the Mercer Island Post Office to unload hundreds of bags of food donated by people from the local community. Our location had so many donations that additional bins had to be delivered to hold all the food donated!

Today is the day! Leave your non-perishable food items at your mailbox to be picked up by your local letter carrier.

Each year, on the second Saturday in May, letter carriers across the country head out on their routes to collect donations of non-perishable food items to benefit local food pantries. Since launching in 1993, the National Association of Letter Carriers’ annual Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive has grown into the nation’s largest one-day food drive, helping to fill the shelves of food banks in cities and towns throughout the United States.

Stamp Out Hunger is almost here! This Saturday (May 9th) leave your non-perishable food items at your mailbox to be picked up by your local letter carrier.

May is Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month, a time to recognize the generations of AAPI individuals who have enriched our nation’s history and continue to shape its future.

Across the country, national parks and cultural sites help preserve and share their stories, highlighting more than 500 years of AAPI heritage and contributions. Historic sites can be found across many states, including Hawaii, Washington, California, and even Washington, D.C. Today we recognize the power of giving back. 💛 Volunteer Recognition Day is about celebrating everyone who gives their time and energy to make a positive difference—whether that’s supporting people, caring for animals, protecting the environment, or strengthening our communities in ways both big and small.

We had another great Saturday morning at the Food Lifeline Hunger Solution Center in South Seattle. We spent the morning sorting 🍎 apples 🍎 into 40 lb boxes. In just a few hours, volunteers inspected and packaged an impressive 10,600 pounds of this healthy fruit, which is already heading to food banks and meal programs across our area. These apples will help feed children, seniors, and families who are struggling to keep food on the table this winter.
