Whirlpool Fridge Not Cooling but Freezer Is Cold: Ice Buildup
Whirlpool refrigerator warm while the freezer is still ice cold? Restricted airflow between the freezer and fresh-food section may be the problem.

Cold air travels from the freezer into the refrigerator through air vents and then circulates back through return vents. If a damper or return vent becomes blocked with ice, the freezer may stay very cold while the refrigerator section struggles to cool.

Things to check:
• Make sure the temperature and airflow controls are set correctly.
• Check the damper/supply vent for frost or ice.
• Check the lower return-air vent for blockage.
• Keep food packages away from air vents.
• Check that the doors are closing and sealing properly.
• If ice is present, unplug the refrigerator and allow it to thaw completely before restarting.

Many Whirlpool models are designed around approximately 37°F for the refrigerator and 0°F for the freezer. After changing temperature settings, give the refrigerator about 24 hours to stabilize before adjusting them again.

If the vents freeze again after being completely defrosted, there may be another problem causing the ice buildup and further diagnosis may be needed.

Dryer Gets Hot but Clothes Stay Wet? Fixing Bad Airflow

If your dryer is getting hot but clothes are taking much longer than usual to dry, restricted airflow is one of the first things worth checking.

Lint doesn't collect only on the lint screen. Over time, it can build up below the filter, around the blower housing, and inside the exhaust system, reducing the amount of air moving through the dryer.

✅ Clean the lint screen after every load.
✅ Periodically vacuum accessible lint below the filter.
✅ Check the exhaust hose for crushing, kinks, or heavy lint buildup.
✅ Make sure the outside dryer vent opens freely and has strong airflow while the dryer is running.
✅ If lint is trapped deep inside the dryer and can't be reached safely, internal cleaning may require disassembly.

Restricted airflow can cause longer drying times and excessive heat, and it can also become a fire hazard. According to the U.S. Fire Administration, failure to clean was the leading factor in 31% of home clothes-dryer fires reported from 2018–2020.

If a dryer suddenly takes much longer to dry or feels unusually hot, don't ignore the change.

Found a Spider Inside Dryer After Disconnected the Belt

I almost became Spider Man today. 🕷️
I reached inside this dryer with my bare hand to disconnect the belt from the idler pulley
Then I pulled the drum out and found THIS little cutie sitting right next to it.
Harmless or not, this thing can scare you to death.
I think that was the last time I put my hand inside a dryer without looking first. 😁

Whirlpool Washer: How To Clear Error Codes, Test Components, Calibrate & Factory Reset

Whirlpool washer acting up but no error is currently showing? The control may still have previous fault codes stored in its Fault History.

Stored fault codes can be extremely useful when diagnosing an intermittent problem. Depending on the model, Whirlpool washers may store multiple previous faults, typically displayed in an F # format. The “F” identifies the system/category and the “E” helps identify the specific fault or component involved.

⚠️ IMPORTANT: Write down or photograph every stored error code BEFORE clearing Fault History. Once the history is erased, you may lose valuable information that can help diagnose the original problem.

Clearing an error code does NOT repair the problem that caused it. If the underlying issue is still present, the washer may detect the fault again and store a new code.

Diagnostic/service menus can also provide access to functions such as:
• Component activation/testing
• Diagnostic test cycles

• Fault history

Samsung Gas Dryer Idler Pulley & Belt Failure Due to Poor Design
This type of problem isn't something you see very often.
The dryer was still running and drying properly, but it was making a lot of noise. Diagnostic showed the idler pulley had slid off its shaft because one side of the pulley wheel was flat.
This could have been avoided if the wheel had both sides raised to hold the belt.
