Thank you to Lynden Chamber of Commerce for this heartfelt tribute to The Print Stop!
Applied Digital Imaging is an independent, family-owned business operating in Bellingham since 1987. Some of you may remember us as Steve’s Copy and Blueprint. We are humbled to see the outpouring of love from the community in recognition and support of this new chapter in Craig’s lifetime experience in the world of printing.
You can expect that Applied Digital Imaging will provide high quality printing and top-notch service. We hope you will find that we offer the same friendly, people-first service that Print Stop has provided. We are doing everything we can to make this transition as easy as possible for you. Deliveries to Lynden and the rest of Whatcom County will continue as we have always offered that service. Among other things, Craig will be helping us to cover the increased delivery obligations as we take on this new client base.
Thanks again to all the folks helping The Print Stop finish out the month. We look forward to working with you!
AND THEN WE SAY GOODBYE... and "Thank you!" to The Print Stop
In so many ways, we at the Lynden Chamber of Commerce are blessed to get to know not only the businesses in the community where we live, but also the people behind those businesses — the friendly faces at the front counter, the skilled team working in the back, the familiar voices who answer the phone, and often the owners themselves. Those relationships turn what could be a simple transaction into something far better: doing business with friends.
There is one downside, though.
When a wonderful, legendary company in Lynden — one that has served so many people and businesses not just in Lynden, but across Whatcom County and beyond — decides it’s time to slow down and retire, it stings a little. We’re not only losing a valuable service, but we may not get to see those friends as often as we’d like.
Today, we join with thousands of others across the county in saying “Goodbye and thank you!” to The Print Stop in downtown Lynden. Craig Hersman and his crew are entering their final weeks of business after faithfully serving the community for 52 years.Their last day for taking orders will be April 15th, and the doors will close for the final time on April 30th.
The customer files will be moving to Applied Digital Imaging (ADI) in Bellingham. Craig will continue working with them part-time, even in “retirement,” because his care and concern for his customers doesn’t stop. He’ll still be picking up and dropping off orders for them.
From the early days of mimeograph machines and literally cutting and pasting artwork and text, to today’s wide-format, digitally enhanced, and AI-assisted printing, Craig and his crew have been there for countless individuals and businesses. Their work has truly covered the gamut — from birth to death.
Gender reveal invitations? They could have them ready by next week.
Baby shower postcards? No problem.
Graduation party banners? Done.
Save-the-dates, wedding programs, extra sets of house plans, a copy of a treasured photo of Great-Great-Grandma Vansma, auction numbers, parade numbers, announcement posters — and yes, when the time came, a perfectly printed funeral program for a loved one.
For businesses, it was much the same: log books for the trucking industry, HR manuals, training manuals, safety sheets, invoices, and for community events — posters, placards, banners, and dozens of other printed materials that most people take for granted. Without Craig and The Print Stop team, those things simply wouldn’t happen.
We would be remiss if we didn’t also thank the back-of-the-house crew along with the front counter team. It has been an absolute pleasure to be served by these dedicated folks. Like so many others, we have been blessed by their patience, professionalism, and genuine care for every customer. If a resume comes across your desk with “The Print Stop” on it, that’s an easy hire — someone who understands true quality customer service. Like so many who did business with The Print Stop team, these weren't people we just did business with, these caring souls were part of our team, wanting to help us succeed, no matter the endeavor.
So to Craig, Irene, Carol, Mary, B.J., Kayla and Debbie, we say “Thank you!”
Thank you for being such a blessing to us in so many ways, for treating people with grace and understanding, and for producing the finest printed materials anyone could hope for. We will miss you all, we wish you the very best, and we can say without hesitation — YOU are loved!
