There’s a line in this song that gets me every time—

“and it’s been the ruin of many a poor boy…”

Because honestly… I see this happen with marketing all the time.

Not because people aren’t capable.
Not because they’re not trying hard enough.

But because they’re doing what most of us were taught to do:

figure it out as you go
post when you can
hope something clicks

And then—

“Dear God, I know I’m one”

Same. 🙋‍♀️

I’ve been the one guessing, overthinking, starting over…
calling it a strategy when it was really just me trying to keep up.

I think a lot of us end up there at some point.

But eventually you start to realize…
maybe it’s not supposed to feel this hard all the time.

Maybe you’re not behind—
you just haven’t been shown a way that actually works for you yet.

If you’ve been there too and just need to vent, ask questions, or talk it out a bit—DM me. I got you. 🤍

I swear old music just hits different. 🥺

You can hear the instruments.

You can hear the cracks in their voice.

Nothing’s perfectly polished… and that’s exactly why it’s so fu #%^ng good.

It has soul 🔥

And honestly, marketing (and a lot of today’s music) lately feels like the opposite of that.

AI images...AI videos....AI captions, AI songs that all kinda sound the same.

Everything’s getting more “perfect”… and somehow more boring.

And I don’t know about you, but I am craving something REAL, raw, authentic, freakin human for god sakes.

So if your marketing has been feeling stiff lately, maybe the answer isn’t better prompts.

Maybe it’s bringing a little old time rock and roll back into it.

A little unhinged, MESSY and less filtered.

You know… like the internet used to be before everything got so damn polished. 🤷🏼‍♀️

Also P.S. Welcome to Marketing Mixtape 🎶 Where I pull marketing lessons out of the songs I love to sing every Monday.

What song should go on the mixtape next?

There was a season I didn’t just stop showing up on camera.

I stopped showing up in life.

In relationships.
In rooms.
In my own body.

“I like me best in the dark.”

That lyric? I felt it.

Postpartum.
40+ pounds heavier.
Didn’t feel at home in my skin (still working on this if we are being honest))

So I kept the lights low.
Neck-up content.
Green screens.
Voiceovers.
Just enough visibility to stay relevant…
but not enough to feel exposed.

And if I’m being honest?
I’ve done that in relationships too.
Let people see pieces of me.
Not the whole thing.

Because when you don’t feel good about you,
being seen feels unbearable.

But here’s the shift this year….

Music is where my storytelling started.
Before marketing.
Before strategy.
Before MadSavvy.

And somewhere along the way, I quieted that part of myself too.

So this is me turning the lights back on.

I’m sharing more music in 2026.
More Raw. Unpolished. Real Content.
Not because it’s perfect,
but because it’s honest and we don’t get enough of that on this app.

SO the same way I tell my clients to show up imperfectly -
I’m doing it too.

Visibility isn’t about polish.
It’s about presence.

2026 isn’t the year we hide.
It’s the year we show up.
Fully. Imperfectly. Seen.

February 13th baby ♒️ it’s almost here.

Every year around my birthday, I get reflective.

Not in a dramatic “reinvent myself” way —
but in a quiet “who have I become?” way.

I think about the risks I took.
The rooms I walked into before I felt ready.
The moments I trusted my gut over what was trending.
The times I chose to just be myself — even when it didn’t look perfectly curated.

And when I look at what I’ve built — how fast it grew, how deeply it connects — I can see something clearly:

It wasn’t because I created a polished, over-edited version of myself.

I didn’t build this by performing a personality for the algorithm.

I built it by being layered.
Strategic and a little chaotic.
Serious about my work and playful about my life.
The woman who can speak on a stage and then laugh too loud at dinner an hour later.

The thoughtful one.
The bold one.
The emotional one.
The high-energy one.

All of her had a role in this.

Sometimes it feels like the goal is to become a brand before you’re allowed to be a person.

It’s tempting to shape yourself into whatever version gets the most applause.

The algorithm loves consistency.
But humans love depth.

The connections that have mattered most in my business haven’t come from perfection.

They’ve come from honesty.
From showing up as a full human — not just a brand.

As I step into another year, I don’t feel the need to become someone new.

If anything, I feel more grounded in being more myself.

And maybe that’s the quiet reminder this birthday is giving me:

The parts I never edited out
are the parts that built everything.

And I’m glad I kept them.

Signed,
an Aquarius who refuses to blend in. ♒️✨

Some people fear ghosts. Content creators fear hearing “we just need one small edit” 😂👻

I didn’t study marketing in college. I barely survived the small amount of college I did attend 😅

I wasn’t built for memorizing formulas or sitting still in fluorescent classrooms.

I was the girl in every job who said,
“Wait… why are we doing it like that?”
🙃

Turns out? That “problem child energy” was the blueprint for entrepreneurship.

The truth is:
🧠 You don’t need a degree to run a wildly successful business.

What you do need is:
✨ Curiosity
✨ A little stubbornness
✨ The guts to try things that feel a little reckless

If you’ve ever felt like you didn’t fit the mold—good.
That means you’re already halfway there.
