When I started my business 2 years ago, I had no idea it would work out. All I felt at the time was incredibly unsure, overwhelmed and unprepared. Do you ever get the feeling that you have absolutely no idea what you are doing? I certainly felt like that for a long time...

I had no clue! I had no idea what steps I needed to take... I just knew I wanted to support both healthcare providers and people who were wrongfully injured. My biggest motivation was to help attorneys maneuver medical records and review EHR audit trails.

I could never have dreamed that the business I started would be looked at as a resource for both attorneys and other LNCs related to EHR audit trail analysis. I never thought the bulk of my assistance with medical record review would be in the birth injury cases. And I never thought I would meet such amazing people, both attorneys and LNCs, that have the same focus as I do.

When you're moving forward with baby steps, taking one action and then another to learn and grow, someday you'll look back and be amazed at how much you accomplished, produced and contributed to the world. Just keep moving forward with a leap of faith and determination. You'll get there!

Starting a business is not an easy road, but it's a journey worth taking. I'm grateful for the opportunities that have come my way and the lessons I've learned along the way. Remember, even if you don't have it all figured out at the beginning, keep pushing forward. You never know what surprises may come your way!

Two weeks ago, I traveled across the Southeast corner of the US and had the opportunity to sit down with two attorneys in two different states. Both were amazing!

In Hot Springs, Arkansas, I met with Beth Crawford of Crawford Law Firm, who had some great questions about medical records review and EHR audit trail analysis. We had an excellent conversation about how my team and I could help her with her cases. It was a pleasure to provide education to her and discuss how we could work together.

In Orlando, Florida, I met with (the 😊) Jack Cooke of Morgan and Morgan, and we talked for over an hour about how utilizing a nurse trained in the analysis of audit trails could greatly benefit the cases his team handles. It was an amazing meeting, and I'm excited about the potential opportunity to work together in the future.

All of this was along with the amazing opportunity to network with some amazing LNC's at the Annual Forum in Lousiville, KY!

I love the opportunity to provide education to others about what my team and I do. It's a pleasure to connect with other professionals in the legal field and discuss how we can support each other in our work. Meeting with Beth and Jack was a fantastic experience, and I'm grateful for the chance to have sat down with them.

Have you recently had a meeting or networking opportunity that left you feeling energized? Let me know in the comments!

Want to know the number one question I get asked ALL the time? "How do EHR audit trails help attorneys and LNCs with medmal cases?"

My answer: They are an incredibly valuable tool in validating the integrity of medical records, creating deposition questions, identifying additional discovery, and possibly even identifying additional witnesses. 😉

When it comes to medical malpractice cases, having access to the audit trail of a patient's electronic health record (EHR) can be a game-changer. The audit trail provides a chronological record of all actionable items within the EHR, including who accessed the record, when they accessed it, and what they did while they were in it.

💥By analyzing the audit trail, attorneys and LNCs can identify discrepancies or irregularities in the record, potentially uncovering evidence of tampering or fraud.

💥The audit trail can also be used to create deposition questions for healthcare providers or identify additional discovery that may be necessary to build a strong case.

💥And perhaps most importantly, the audit trail can help attorneys and LNCs identify additional witnesses who may have information relevant to the case. By analyzing who accessed the record and when, they can pinpoint individuals who may have been involved in the patient's care or have knowledge of the events in question.

This simple approach has helped many attorneys and LNCs successfully navigate complex medical malpractice cases and achieve favorable outcomes for their clients. If you're involved in a medmal case, I highly recommend exploring the value of EHR audit trails.

I never thought I would be viewed as the “go to” person for LNC’s related to anything. I never thought I would fall in love with analyzing EHT Audit Trails. And I definitely never thought I would speak at a national conference that analysis of EHR audit trails. But I have done them all!

That’s the thing with doing something you never thought you could do.

You think you can’t do it, until you do.

If there’s something right now you really want to do but think you never could, I get it.

We all have limiting beliefs that sneak in and crash the Yes party.

Here are three things I ask myself when I’m afraid to try something new:

1- Am I holding on to an idea about who I’m supposed to be and what I’m supposed to do? If so, I remind myself that I’m the master of my identity, not any ideas or thoughts I have.

2- What have I done that’s similar, and how did it feel? Most of the time, it felt like winning! I’ll walk through the whole experience again, how I got through it, the rush, how amazing it was, and everything I learned.

3- What’s the opportunity here? I think about how amazing it can be instead of what can go wrong. By picturing the best possible outcome instead of the worst, my excitement overshadows my fear.

The thing with new stuff is that we can never really be sure how it will go. One thing's for sure, giving it all our energy and putting our best into it always pays off!

You are worthy of the best things. You are magical. Don’t let fear hold you back or keep you small.

What’s something you thought you couldn't do but did it? How did it feel?

If I'm being honest...............don't hate me................I have never watched a Star Wars movie in it's entirety! However, this spoke to me today! What you focus your time and effort on will determine your reality. Stay focused y'all!

Do you think you have what it takes?

Everyone can set out on a journey, but not everyone has the strength and determination to see it through until the end 🌟

Building a legal nurse consulting business takes time, patience, and focus. Doing the small things consistently and taking pride in your work product are key ingredients to success. Sometimes the truth is hard to hear, but it's important to remember that achieving your goals doesn't happen overnight— it requires years of hard work, focus, and perseverance.

If you want to build a successful legal nurse consulting business, you need to have a passion for what you do. Success is a byproduct of passion, so it's important to be passionate about your niche topic. Additionally, no matter the challenges or setbacks you may face, you need to keep going. Don’t let difficulty taint your hunger for success.

Keep in mind that all good things take time. Creating a timeline of small goals can help you stay focused and motivated. Remember, everyone can set out on a journey, but not everyone has the strength and determination to see it through until the end. So, if you're serious about building a successful legal nurse consulting business, be patient and stay focused on your goals.

YOU CAN DO THIS! Follow your dreams and don't let anything get in the way!

Do you ever think about where you were a year ago and everything you've accomplished? We’re so focused on the future and what we want to do most of the time that we forget to step back and pat ourselves on the back for what we've already done.

Here’s what’s changed in my life from just one year ago: I have the honor of presenting on EHR audit trails to my fellow legal nurses at the American Association of Legal Nurse Consultants Annual Forum. A year ago, I would have never guessed that I would have this chance. Sharing with other LNC's how audit trails can assist attorneys in building cases is my absolute passion and I appreciate every moment I get to do it. WHEW!

Sometimes all it takes is a check-in to feel excited and pumped again. I can't wait for what's to come!

This week I’ve had the opportunity to travel to a conference while boondocking in our RV with just myself and my husband. It has been an exciting adventure so far and has allowed me to take off my “business” hat and enjoy the benefits of entrepreneurship.

It is a much-needed break that allowed me to step away from my laptop and get in the real world. I felt refreshed and focused, and just being in a new environment gave me a new perspective with so many new ideas!

This experience made me realize, once again, how important it is to prioritize new experiences or adventures in our day-to-day life. Whether it's something we schedule in or prefer to be spontaneous, taking a break from our routine can have positive benefits.

How often do you prioritize new experiences or adventures in your day-to-day life? Is it something you schedule in, or do you prefer it to be spontaneous?

Whew, Q1 just ended and I’m super excited about how it all went. I’m even more excited about Q2 and what’s to come.

Time to take a breather, review my progress, and realign with my goals for Q2 because I know that every day is a gift and I’m so grateful to be doing what I love to do.

Here’s what went well: I successfully managed 7 attorney clients and their 21 cases. I am so happy to have been able to provide them with the support they needed to achieve their legal goals.

Now, here’s what I’m still working on:
1- Reaching out to potential new clients
2- Expanding my network within the legal industry
3- Continuing to learn and grow as a LNC.

What are your goals for Q2? Let's make it a great one!"
