A number of service calls concerning busted irrigation backflow preventers.

Unfortunately, backflow preventers have precise and integral components that can be easily damaged by the forces of frozen water. If you have not protected your backflow preventer and was lucky that the freeze did not affect the device, please consider either wrapping, covering, or protecting the system.

The temperatures will be improving (above freezing) within the next 48 hours. Please check and be prepared to repair and replace all the valves in your system, if needed.

Attention Killeen Residents! Killeen is now using a service for backflow test reporting that charges per test form subitted. Beginning August 1st all backflow tests in Killeen will go up by $15 per assembly tested.

This has already been in effect in Salado and Kempner. Temple and other municipalities that don't use online reporting will not be effected.
