With Deepest Sympathy

On behalf of the entire Benedict Volunteer Fire Department family, we extend our heartfelt condolences on the passing of our brother firefighter, Dan Noble. Their courage, dedication, and commitment to serving others will never be forgotten.

In the fire service, we are more than coworkers, we are family. Dan's service and sacrifice will leave a lasting legacy within our fire/EMS community.

To Dan's loved ones, please know that you are not alone in your sorrow. We stand with you, holding you in our thoughts and prayers, and honoring the life and memory of one who gave so much in service to others.

A huge thank you to the York Fire Department , Stromsburg, and Bradshaw fire departments for all their hard work and help early this morning. We are incredibly grateful for your dedication and service. A special thanks to all the Benedict fire department members who have stepped up, taking shifts and giving their time to help battle this fire. We also want to thank the amazing people in our community who have reached out with snacks, drinks, and supportโ€”it means more than you know. Your kindness and generosity are truly appreciated! FYI: Going forward, as conditions become safer, we will be pulling our department completely back into service. The pile will continue to burn for quite some time afterward, but there will be people keeping an eye on it to ensure everything remains under control.

With this recent snow, just a friendly reminder. Every second counts in case of an emergency!

Our hearts are broken to hear the passing of such a great guy. He definitely will be missed by many. Rest in peace Mike.

I was so saddened this morning to see online comments indicating Mike Steube has passed away. Oh, Mike โ€“ what a guy. Mike was a special person in so many ways. I first met Mike many years ago when he was a fireman/EMT for the York department. I was a reporter and he was a

On February 27,2025, it will be 20 years since my father Michael Aunkst will have passed away in the line of duty. 20 years since many lives were changed. While he may be gone, my dadโ€™s legacy lives on. He was one of the most kind and giving people you would ever meet. He would give you the shirt off his back. To honor his legacy, I am wanting to put together care packages for several of the local Lincoln Fire and Rescue departments. This is a big ask, so I am reach out to see if others would be willing to help me continue his legacy. All donations will go directly to LFR. If you would prefer to send money via Venmo, please send me a message and I can send it to you. Thank you for helping to honor my dadโ€™s legacy. If you own a business and are wanting to donate any items, please donโ€™t hesitate to reach out to me on Facebook! Liza Aunkst
