Why You Should Consider Recessed LED Lighting
1. Lower Your Energy Bills
One of the most notable features of LED lighting is energy efficiency. Traditional incandescent, halogen, and fluorescent bulbs are inefficient and burn most of the energy they consume as heat.

LED bulbs, however, are much more efficient and use up to 50% less electricity than traditional bulbs. They also produce much less heat than other types of bulbs which can lower your cooling costs.
All of this means LED lighting solutions can save you money on your electric bills.

2. Lower Maintenance Costs
Another source of cost savings comes from the longer lifespan of LED bulbs. LED light bulbs can last over 50,000 operating hours. This means they last 2-4 times longer than other light bulbs commonly used in commercial and industrial settings.

3. Make Your Room Look Bigger
Recessed LED lighting will make any room look larger and more open.

4. Versatility
One of the key benefits of recessed LED lighting is the flexibility this lighting option provide some LED lights can change colors which gives you the option to change the color of the light .

Christmas Safety Tips

1. Inspect electrical decorations for damage before use.
Cracked or damaged sockets, loose or bare wires, and loose connections may cause a serious shock or start a fire.

2. Do not overload electrical outlets.
Overloaded electrical outlets and faulty wires are a common cause of holiday fires. Avoid overloading outlets and plug only one high-wattage into each outlet at a time.

3. Never connect more than three strings of incandescent lights.
More than three strands may not only blow a fuse, but can also cause a fire.

4. Keep trees fresh by watering daily.
Dry trees are a serious fire hazard.

5. Use battery-operated candles.
Candles start almost half of home decoration fires.

6. Keep combustibles at least three feet from heat sources.
A heat sources that was too close to the decoration was a factor in half of home fires that began with decorations

7. Protect cords from damage.
To avoid shock or fire hazards, cords should never be pinched by furniture, forced into small spaces such as doors and windows, placed under rugs, located near heat sources, or attached by nails or staples.

8. Check decorations for certification label.
Decorations not bearing a label from an independent testing laboratory such as Underwriters Laboratories (UL), Canadian Standards Association (CSA), or Intertek (ETL) have not been tested for safety and could be hazardous.

9. Stay in the kitchen when something is cooking.
Unattended cooking equipment is the leading cause of home cooking fires

10. Turn off, unplug, and extinguish all decorations when going to sleep or leaving the house.
Unattended candles are the cause of one in five home candle fires. Half of home fire deaths occur between the hours of 11pm and 7am

Dangers of a Loose Connection
Wires connect to outlets—properly called receptacles—with screw terminals or other devices to provide a secure connection. Wires that are tight to the terminal make good electrical contact that the electricity can pass through with minimal resistance. But if the terminal is not tight, and the wire is not compressed against the terminal's metal contact, there is greater resistance. And resistance creates heat. The looser the connection, the greater the heat.
Arching can occur in a few different ways, but in essence, it's electricity jumping from one conductor (like a hot wire) to another conductor.
A loose wiring connection may or may not trip a standard circuit breaker. This is one reason why new homes today must have special breakers called arch-fault circuit-interrupters, or AFCIs. These are designed to detect the most common types of arc faults in home wiring and shut off the power. In short, AFCIs help protect against house fires caused by arc faults.

AFCI protection is required on circuits serving bedrooms, hallways, living rooms, and most other living areas in a home. AFCIs are different from GFCIs (ground-fault circuit-interrupters), which are required in bathrooms, kitchens, garages, outdoors, and other areas where moisture may be present.

A faulty electrical service panel in a home places it in danger. The service panel is where the main power line from outside a home enters and is routed throughout the electrical system. The panel also disconnects circuits if excess electricity flows through them by tripping circuit breakers. If the panel starts to malfunction to the point that it can no longer function correctly, not only will it risk shutting down all electricity to the house, it will put it at risk of electrical fires

WARNINGS THAT YOU MAY NEED A NEW ELECTRICAL SERVICE PANEL

Constantly tripping circuit breakers: When a panel begins to wear down, it will be more susceptible to power surges through the wires, and consequently will start to disconnect circuits more often. This can also happen because your home energy needs have surpassed the capacity of the service panel. If you find that you are resetting breakers a few times a week, when before you rarely had to resent them more than a few times a year, then the panel is warning you that it needs serious repairs or a full replacement.

Evidence of electrical fires in the panel:
Wires that wear down inside an electrical panel can create fires. These often quickly burn themselves out, but they will leave behind signs that they’ve occurred. If you smell an acrid odor from the panel, or notice charring and discolored marks around the circuit breakers, you’ve probably had an electrical fire in the panel. You need to call for professional assistance right away.

Breakers will not remain reset: Resetting a tripped breaker should take care of a problem under normal circumstances. But if you discover that a reset circuit breaker in the panel won’t stay reset, or it does not restore power, then you may have a faulty service panel. A professional electrician will be able to determine what the problem is and the best way to fix it.
If you still have an old fuse box rather than a modern service panel with circuit breakers, then you definitely need to have a replacement: fuse boxes are out of date and insufficient for modern electrical appliances.

Summer Electrical Safety Tips: Outdoor Hazards
Summer is the time when everyone wants to play outside, so it is important that everyone knows what possible electrical safety hazards to avoid in the out-of-doors. Go around the outside of your home and through your neighborhood with your family and show them where telephone poles and electrical lines are located. Explain the following so that everyone understands the dangers associated with them:

Never play near or touch a power line with any part of your body, a toy, a stick, or any other object whatsoever. Assume at all times that any power lines you see are live and dangerous. If you see a downed power line, stay well away and report it to your local utility company immediately.
Never approach an electrical substation (or downed power lines) for any reason whatsoever. Period. If a friend, family member or a pet has entered this area, do not try to rescue them yourself—call 911 immediately.
Never climb on or play around a utility pole. In fact, never post any signs or flyers on utility poles either as this can endanger you and utility workers that have to work on those poles.
This may seem like a repeat of the other outdoor summer electrical safety tips, but never throw shoes or articles of clothing up onto power lines, and never try to retrieve any object already hanging from a power line. There are safer ways to celebrate summer than this.
To avoid getting kites, model aircraft or any other airborne toys stuck in power lines, play with these things in wide open spaces like parks or fields far away from power lines.
Kids love to climb trees in the summer, but they should never climb trees that are too close to power lines; even if the tree isn’t touching a line, the extra weight from someone climbing the tree could cause a branch to touch the line, which would be dangerous. In fact, if you feel that any trees in your yard or neighborhood are too close to power lines, talk with your local utility about having them trimmed or possibly removed.
Keep an eye on the weather. Almost 100 people die each year, and another 500 are severely injured from lightning strikes. If a thunderstorm is approaching, go indoors and stay there until the
