One thing I’m trying to get better at is taking before and after videos on jobs.

Not because I’m trying to make everything look fancy 😂

But because sometimes homeowners don’t realize how much of a difference proper maintenance can make until they hear it.

A garage door can slowly get louder over time:
Squeaking
Shaking
Grinding
Jerky movement
Straining opener

And because it happens little by little, most people just get used to it.

Then after a tune-up, adjustment, and proper lubrication, the difference can be night and day.

That’s why I like showing the before and after when I remember to record it.

It helps people see — and hear — what maintenance can actually do.

Something I was reminded of today...

Faith isn't just something we talk about on Sunday. It should show up in how we live, how we treat people, and how we do business.

For me, that means trying to be honest with customers, explain things clearly, and not pressure someone into something they may not need.

Garage doors may be my trade, but people are still the priority.

Sometimes a homeowner just needs a repair.
Sometimes they need replacement.
Sometimes they just need someone to explain what’s going on so they can make a wise decision.

That’s the kind of business I want Finks Doors & More to be.

Built on faith, honesty, and doing right by people.

One thing I've been working on behind the scenes is improving my website.

Not because I love websites 😅, but because I want it to be easier for homeowners to find answers, learn about common garage door issues, and get a feel for who they're hiring before they ever pick up the phone.

When I started Finks Doors & More, I wanted it to be more than just fixing garage doors. I wanted it to be a business built on trust, education, and helping people make informed decisions.

Still a work in progress, but it's coming together.

One thing homeowners don't realize is garage doors slowly get louder over time.

So slowly, most people stop noticing it.

This 3-door system today is a perfect example. Listen to the squeaking and rough movement in the first clips compared to after the tune-up.

Nothing flashy — just proper maintenance, adjustments, lubrication, and attention to the system.

Amazing what a little maintenance can do 😂

Today isn't just about cookouts, a day off, or long weekends.

Memorial Day is a reminder that freedom came with a price.

It's about remembering the men and women who gave everything so families could sit around dinner tables, kids could grow up with opportunities, and people like me could build businesses, worship freely, and live lives we sometimes take for granted.

Somebody paid a price for freedoms many of us wake up and enjoy every day.

Praying for the families carrying memories that never leave and honoring those who made the ultimate sacrifice.

Something hit me in church today.

People say the Bible is old... outdated... or just a book of stories.

But the more I read it, the more I realize it's a guide for life.

When someone sins against you? Matthew 18 tells us how to handle it.

Battling anxiety? Philippians 4 reminds us to pray instead of carry it all alone.

Feeling depressed, broken, or exhausted? Psalms is filled with people crying out to God in their darkest moments.

Worried about tomorrow? Matthew 6 reminds us not to be anxious about our lives.

Need wisdom? Proverbs.

Need hope? Jesus.

It's crazy... because so many of the things we struggle with today aren't new. People struggled thousands of years ago too.

The difference is God already gave us direction.

Maybe the Bible isn't just meant to be read... maybe it's meant to be lived.

Faith over fear ❤️

Garage door myth of the day 😂

"If it's still opening and closing, it's fine."

I hear that one a lot.

Truth is, garage doors are kind of like vehicles. They'll usually give little warning signs before something bigger happens:

• New noises
• Slower movement
• Jerky travel
• Sagging sections
• Shaking

Most people don't notice until they hear the famous **BANG** 😅

What's something around your house you've ignored way longer than you should have? I'll go first... changing air filters 😂

This review meant a lot to me.

Not because of the 5 stars... but because of what was said.

When I started Finks Doors & More, I didn't want to build a business around pressure or trying to sell people things they don't need.

I wanted to show up, explain options honestly, solve problems, and treat people the way I'd want someone treating my own family.

This part stood out to me:

"Rather than offering a one-size-fits-all fix."

Every garage, every home, and every customer situation is different.

Sometimes the cheapest fix makes sense.
Sometimes an upgrade makes sense.
Sometimes it's just educating someone and helping them make the right choice.

I appreciate every customer who trusts me and every person who supports this journey.

This week reminded me of something...

When you're self-employed, "taking a day off" sounds nice until you realize your brain doesn't know how 😂

You're laying in bed trying to rest, but your mind is over there thinking:

• Did I send that estimate?
• Need to follow up on that customer
• Wonder if that door job is ready
• Did I stock enough springs?
• Should I buy a welder? 🤔😂

Anybody else have 1,000 tabs open in their head, or is it just me?
