Compared to chicks, turkey poults are always so much more calm and quiet. Chicks chirp incessantly at times and are so easily skittish, while poults only call out when they’re stressed or hungry/thirsty.
We’ve had a dozen poults and 8 laying chicks in the same brooder and it seems that the turkeys’ relaxed demeanor is rubbing off on the chicks.
The turkeys are only a week older than the chicks, but they let the chicks sleep with them and tolerate them so well. These are the quietest chicks I’ve seen.
