Sharing my thoughts for the day that no one asked for. ✨
Stewardship is a new word to me. One day I heard it used, looked up its meaning and understood what is happening in my own life.
I am one who truly believes that everything happens for a reason.
As most of you know, my husband and I recently made a decision to follow our dreams, buy property, sell our home, and build a new house. While this sounds sooooo glamorous, it has come with a ton of sacrifices (which I won’t bore you with because it sounds a lot like complaining.) We knew this wouldn’t be an overnight success, however things have taken longer than we expected so far.
We made the choice to move out of home while it was on the market so the kids wouldn’t undo all our hard work. I also knew it would be quite impossible to keep a house spotless for showings and such while I have a 5 & 3 year old living there.
In the meantime we found a place to rent. The rental is nothing like home but we are beyond thankful for it and all the opportunities it has given us. ❤️❤️
We expected our farmhouse to sell rather quickly and we’d be breaking ground in no time. God laughed. We have sold the farmhouse 3 times (😩)… Finally we will be closing in about a week! 🥳
Off topic, but if you have kids you know that they are always eager for a snack. They could be physically eating the dinner you prepared and they will be asking you for what’s next. What do you typically say? “Eat your dinner first.”
I’ve learned even as an adult I tend to have that same mindset. Let’s just skip to the good part. I want to skip to the next, better, chapter.
Butttt maybe this chapter that I’m in, maybe God is teaching me one on one stewardship.
Maybe just maybe he’s teaching me to take care of the things I’ve already been given, even if it’s not exactly what I’ve asked for.
How can I expect something bigger, better, newer when I can’t even take a moment to be grateful what I currently have?
I’ve always been the kind when you get into my car you’d probably say “wow this thing is a mess” or “wow I’m so glad you don’t litter 😅”, I’ve been the kind who doesn’t exactly sweep under the couch every week or make sure everything is completely spotless 24/7. I’ve never really been one to obsess over keeping things brand new. However, it has been something I’ve been working on within myself.
I’ve kind of always been the type where if something breaks, I’ll just go buy new. If a shirt gets stained, I’ll just donate it and get a new one. If my car gets dirty, oh well, it’s just a car.
I just haven’t really put much energy into keeping things nice. 😅
This current chapter we are in is anything but glamorous, but I’m thankful for it as it has really opened my eyes and taught me so much already. God has stripped us of almost all the luxuries we had before, including my cars, they all 4 are not currently running at the moment. (😅) some of you have even seen me first hand broke down on the side of the road these past few weeks, good times, good times. 😆
So, while im learning stewardship myself, I’ll also be teaching my kids when you take care of things, they last. Maybe God may even bless you bigger than you can even imagine if he sees you’re grateful for what you already have.
Things don’t have to be perfect or exactly what you expected, but you can still be thankful anyways. ❤️❤️
