Fierce Allies

Fierce Allies Fierce Allies is a body of work, suite of services, and community of practitioners catalyzing dynamics of power and privilege towards equity and justice.

This work draws from the fields of Restorative Justice, somatic healing, experiential and popular education, indigenous values, storytelling, meditation and ritual. It grounds participants in foundational practices of Emotional Warriorship TM, where they learn to:

(1) responsibly hear and express strong emotions like anger as gestures of love and respect, and
(2) generate sustainable power-sha

ring and mutual accountability from any position of privilege or authority. Once trained as Emotional Warriors, participants will have a hunger and capacity for fiercely honest dialogue with the other side. Supported by facilitated conflict-transformation processes, participants will learn from, and attend to, contemporary and historical breaches of trust that have occurred between individuals and groups. They will also deconstruct the systems of power and accountability that inhibit their relationships. Ultimately they will design and implement new organizing models that hold mutual accountability, and power-sharing as paramount. Together they will create and nurture a culture in which cycles of dominance/oppression are replaced with healing cycles and diversity is able to harmoniously thrive. Fierce Allies affords oppressed people the power to reclaim responsibility for their own liberation. It invites people with privilege to engage in the struggle of equality and justice from positions other than shame, blame and hero. It trains both in a body of practices that allow for trust building through fiercely honest dialogue.

Dear Fierce Allies Community,

Over the last few years I have engaged in deep reflection about the changes needed for me to better align my life and work with my life’s purpose.

Among the pathways that have emerged is the choice to rebirth Fierce Allies (https://www.fierceallies.com/), the work I gestated and nurtured over the last 20 years, into an evolving body of work I call “Get Free”: https://www.jmiakodataylor.com/

“Many people have heard me say, 'If your liberation is dependent on how much work or change someone else needs to do, you’ve just given your power away.'

In the past, Fierce Allies focused on creating liberatory cultures and structures for institutions and coalitions as the required first step for empowering the people working within them. At this moment in human history, and in my own healing and development, I now relate to this sequencing of priorities as a version of giving the people’s power away to the organizations they operate within.

We the people, are the ones, the only ones, who can free ourselves from the confines of our current reality.”

if you want to know why I am voting for Jill Stein and the Green Party, watch this. And for the uneducated among us, this is a not a de facto a vote for Trump as I do not live in a battleground state nor are presidents elected by popular vote. And even if I did live in a battleground state, I would be seriously considering this choice, alongside the vast majority of Muslims in Arizona, Michigan and Wisconsin.

“This effort to try to pin an inevitable defeat of the Democrats upon third parties or upon Muslims is at best disingenuous,” says Green Party VP candidate Butch Ware, a Muslim historian and professor. “Every effort to protect Team Blue, to protect the Democrats from facing accountability for the evil that their own hands have wrought is equally evil.”

This two-party duopoly has to end now. We need better and more options. We need options that align with all of our values. We need parties that are not beholden to the capitalist state.

And if you think it is a waste of a vote to vote for someone who can not win, then you are have a very short-sighted vision for change.

We need serious change now ya'll. NOW!!!

We want the collages to invite people to imagine a future that is not yet possible, while also being grounded in the history and present of movements of healing, resistance, liberation, decolonization, intersectionality, and justice.
