We're excited to share that @, Quality Control Division Manager at Aquatech Consultancy, Inc., will be presenting at the 2026 AIA East Bay Waterproofing Symposium on September 3 in Berkeley.

Rod's presentation, "Leveraging Design and Testing to Avoid Enclosure Failures," will explore how thoughtful design, mock-ups, and quality control testing can identify building enclosure issues long before occupancy, helping project teams reduce risk, improve performance, and avoid costly failures. The symposium brings together six industry experts for a full day focused on real-world waterproofing lessons, case studies, and practical strategies for architects and building professionals.

Last night, Aquatech was pleased to attend the IIBEC Sacramento Valley Branch Technical Dinner featuring an outstanding presentation by Gina Rodda on the upcoming 2025 California Title 24, Part 6 Energy Code changes.

Gina provided a thorough overview of the new requirements impacting nonresidential, hotel, motel, and multifamily projects, including updates related to:
✔️ Roof, wall, floor, and fenestration assemblies
✔️ New construction, additions, and alterations
✔️ Embodied carbon requirements under CALGreen

As building enclosure consultants, staying ahead of evolving codes and industry standards is critical to helping our clients design and construct durable, energy-efficient, and compliant buildings. Events like these provide valuable opportunities to learn, connect with industry peers, and bring the latest knowledge back to the projects we support.

Field Observation Day | Building Enclosure Quality Assurance

Our team was recently on site observing the installation of the underslab v***r barrier system for a custom residential project currently under construction.

While much of the building enclosure work that protects a structure from moisture intrusion is ultimately hidden from view, proper installation during construction is critical to long-term building performance. Site observations like these allow us to verify that materials are being installed in accordance with the design intent and manufacturer requirements before they become concealed by subsequent construction activities.

For this project, Aquatech is providing building enclosure consulting and construction administration services, including site observations, documentation, and recommendations to support the successful implementation of the waterproofing and moisture management systems.

It's always rewarding to see projects move from design into construction and help ensure that the details are executed correctly in the field. Not all rainscreen systems are created equal.

When it comes to managing moisture, durability, and long-term building performance, understanding the difference between drained and back-ventilated rainscreens and pressure-equalized rainscreens is critical. It is with great sadness that we share the passing of former Aquatech team member, John Martin.

John was a valued part of the Aquatech family, and we are grateful for the time, knowledge, and dedication he shared with our team throughout his many years with the company.

Our thoughts are with his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing and working alongside him.

He will be remembered fondly and deeply missed.

Early coordination is everything.

Aquatech Consultancy is currently engaged on a high-end residential project providing full building envelope consulting and construction phase oversight services. This project includes a two-story residence over a basement, a ground-level attached ADU, and approximately 11,000 SF of conditioned space.

We recently met on-site for a below-grade waterproofing preconstruction meeting to align on key details early. With features like a basement-level pool, roof decks over occupied areas, large window walls, and expansive patio door systems, getting ahead of waterproofing, transitions, and sequencing is critical.

These early conversations are where risk is reduced, details are clarified, and long-term performance is set in motion.
