Gerard Keena from Bay Area Receivership Group was appointed over three different substandard and dangerous nuisance properties this week.

One in the City of Lafayette with assistance from the Law Firm of Best Best & Krieger, as well as two in the City of Fremont. One of these petitions was handled by the law firm of Jones & Mayer, while the other petition was handled by an in-house deputy city attorney in Fremont.

Gerard Keena and his staff at Bay Area Receivership Group look forward to abating the dangerous conditions at these properties and bringing peace back to these neighborhoods. As well as working as a fiduciary with the respective owners of the properties.

BARG Attorney and Law Professor Ryan Griffith had his recent law review article from Seattle University put in the professor case at Golden Gate University

The article is on how licensed and state legal Cannabis companies cannot use the Federal Bankruptcy system, because it is illegal under federal law. However, receiverships can be used to help financially distressed cannabis companies.

Seattle University Law Review published BARG Attorney Ryan Griffith's law review on cannabis receiverships. Cannabis receiverships are a way for cannabis businesses that are struggling to obtain financial protections. These financial protections are normally available through the bankruptcy process. However, since cannabis is illegal federally legal cannabis businesses cannot file for bankruptcy.

On February 23, 2023 the Siskiyou County Superior Court appointed Ryan Griffith from Bay Area Receivership Group as a receiver over a nuisance property in Mt. Shasta pursuant to Health and Safety Code section 17980.7.

The Mt. Shasta property has endangered the community for years. Mr. Griffith will begin working to abate the dangerous conditions at the property with help from Bay Area Receivership Group team members.
