Happy National Red Wine Day! 🍷

Today is the perfect excuse to pour yourself a glass and celebrate one of wine’s most beloved styles.

Did you know?

🍇 Red wine gets its beautiful color from fermenting the juice with the grape skins.
🍒 Red wines can feature flavors ranging from cherry and raspberry to blackberry, plum, vanilla, and spice.
🍷 Red wine isn’t always dry. Reds can range from bone-dry to sweet, with plenty of semi-sweet styles in between.
🌊 Michigan is a great place for red wine lovers. Our cool climate and Great Lakes influence allow Michigan wineries to produce reds with bright fruit flavors and refreshing acidity.
🧀 They can pair beautifully with everything from cheese and charcuterie to grilled meats and pasta.
🍫 And yes… red wine + chocolate is absolutely worth celebrating!

Whether you prefer a light and fruity red, a smooth semi-sweet pour, or a bold and dry favorite, National Red Wine Day is the perfect day to raise a glass.

Cheers to Michigan wine, good company, and a glass worth savoring! 🍷

People ask this a lot: why here?

Three reasons, and you need all three.

THE LAKE. Cold water in spring holds the vines dormant past our worst frost risk. Warm water in fall stretches ripening out weeks longer than it should be. All winter it keeps our lows off the extremes that would kill a vine outright.

THE HILLS. Cold air is heavy and flows downhill like water. Plant on the slopes instead of the hollows and you get frost protection for free.

THE SAND. Sandy loam drains hard and warms fast. Vines hate wet feet, and lean soil keeps them from growing all leaf and no fruit.

Take any one away and there is no winery here. That is genuinely how narrow the margin is.

We spend 45 minutes on exactly this on the Discovery Tour. $15, glass of wine included.
